The scene with Julian telling Sonny that he hopes Michael wins custody (as Julian left the Q manse) is important. Nelle is going to blackmail Julian with what she overheard. It will not surprise me if Nelle and Julian arrive in Court straight from another Judge's chamber after being married.

It is only Nelle's word against Julian. I know everyone hates Julian but not as much as they hate Nelle so why would Sonny believe her? He more than likely would think she is just playing games. Since Brook Lynn probably has further use for Julian she could also deny that Julian told her anything and definitely Sonny would believe Brook Lynn. This is why I think the writing is so stupid. Now if Nelle pulls out a mini recorder which has the Julian/Brook conversation on it, I could see the point of this.

Marrying Julian shouldn't help Nelle win custody, it should do the opposite because he was a mob boss and has a criminal record. The reason why Chase and Sasha pushed Michael and Willow into marrying is because Willow is considered to be pure as the driven snow, whereas Sasha was part of the con to make Nina believe she was her daughter. If being part of a con disqualified Sasha from marrying Michael to help him win custody, it is ludicrous that Nelle marrying a former mob boss will help her, but this is a soap, so logic has no place here. Lol

Michael is Wiley's father and julian is nothing. Michael had extenuating circumstances, like saving the life of his sister. Julian does not. And Michael's father is irrelevant.
