A Question about Alexis and Sonny

I have been binge watching GH on youtube lately and I have a question about Alexis and Sonny in 2002 when Alexis was pregnant with Kristina she decided not to tell Sonny she was pregnant with Kristina the question is do you think Alexis did the right thing not telling Sonny about Kristina personally I think she did the right thing and if I feel if I was pregnant by a man like Sonny I would do the same thing I think Alexis was just wanting to protect Kristina what do ya'll think

ehhh.... given that this a soap, if I were Alexis then, I would have left town the minute I found out I was pregnant by Sonny. She is a lawyer, she knows his “business” - I wouldn’t want my children exposed to the lifestyle .... (in real life, I am not so sure I would have gotten involved with him to begin with...)

Six of one, half dozen of another. Her motives were to protect her child, but if she told him the truth up front, her concerns should have been front and center. It would make for an interesting soap - a mother actually challenging Sonny on his clear and present danger to his offspring. And in court!

I feel like if she didn’t want to get pregnant by Sonny, then she shouldn’t have had unprotected sex with him. If she really wanted to keep it a secret, she should’ve left town.

Later on Alexis kept going on and on about Sonny being dangerous but to be honest I think if Carly wasn't in the picture and Sonny gave their relationship a chance, it would have been a different story. There were multiple times when Alexis went to Sonny to tell him but she could never get the words out. Alexis knew who he was from the beginning.

The best thing for Alexis to have to done was not have any sex with Sonny. Alexis has this "fake moral standard that she doesn't actually live up to" where she sleeps with the likes of Sonny, Ric, Jerry, and Julian but then judges other women (namely Carly and Sam) for doing the exact same thing. Somehow Alexis is considered "a special case" because she has "reasons" why she's attracted to bad men. All the while Carly and Sam are attracted to bad men for "reasons" too, and theirs are more in line with the classic psychology of that than Alexis reasons are.

You brought up a good point. She has also judged other women for doing the same thing she did. I remember after Julian finally went to jail and Carly called her out about judging her all these years. Alexis tried to claim that she never judged her but we definitely saw different on the screen. I have always liked Alexis but she was almost intolerable in 2006 when she did everything to keep Sam and Jason apart......mind you she was married to Ric and had a child with Sonny.

It's hard for me to take Alexis' "moral high ground" seriously when she's drawn to men like Lazenby, Ric, Julian (and had children with the latter two) but acts like it's Sonny who was the big danger, even though he absolutely loves his children and would protect them to the death.

This was the point in the show where I realized that I had stanned the wrong character. Well, honestly, when she started hyperventilating like a nervous teenager around Sonny was probably when I first realized, but I was maybe hoping that she had some sort of mental disorder.

But, had Alexis really wanted to do so, she was uniquely equipped to absolutely bring Sonny to his knees to keep her daughter safe, and I would have thrown the biggest parade the world had ever seen in her honor, had she done so. She had money, she had Cassadine connections, she had Quartermaine connections too, because Ned was all too willing to help her. But Alexis -- just did nothing. She continued to live directly next door, daring Sonny to count backwards from 9...and he did.I sincerely believe that Alexis wanted to get caught. She always pretends to be scandalized by these dangerous men, but she also absolutely willing to do the bare minimum to discourage any one of them, and her daughters have been in danger so many times because of it.

I agree with you......I also think she wanted to get caught. She lived across the hall from him and Sonny asked her multiple times if he was the father. I still believe if he would have taken steps to be in a relationship with her, she would have been perfectly fine raising Kristina with him. Much like she made compromises to be with Julian.

I love Alexis but there isn't one thing I can disagree with in this whole thread. I get why she did it but she was wrong for doing it. Unless you think someone will directly do harm to your child, you gotta tell no matter how hard it is. She should have told and then gone to court for full legal and residential custody.

I do think it would be an awesome karmic kick in the behind to Alexis if somehow Kristina became the Corinthos kid to take the business over for her father. Kristina is so much like him and she's proven that when it really matters and no matter how scared or irrational she's being, she's always either taken into account what he does or has tried protect the business and the family. As nutty as it sounds, her telling her father that Ethan beat her up was as much about protecting Sonny as it was Kiefer. I really feel like she knew her dad would act on impulse and do something sloppy to Kiefer whereas she knew his relationship w/ Luke would make any reaction he had slightly more measured and likely wouldn't result in death. She risked herself to get the evidence that Mike blew up Charlie's Pub and even at her weirdest, she gave Shiloh zero info regarding her father.

During this hiatus I'm watching old episodes and now I'm into 2002. Right after Alexis and Sonny's ONS and Carly's return from the "dead". Alexis just asked Sonny if he was in love with Carly and Sonny told her he never stopped loving Carly and Alexis knew that. Once it became clear that Sonny wanted to get back with Carly, Alexis really never addressed her feelings. Do you think she was in love with Sonny? Would she have told Sonny about being pregnant if Carly was not in the picture? It was an interesting storyline but I couldn't see Sonny and Alexis being in a real relationship. She is not like any of the women that Sonny had dated up to that point.

No she wasn’t in love with him. She may have had feelings for him but that’s about it. I think though she has far more chemistry with Sonny than Carly does. Carly only has chemistry with Jax .

You know, I could see Alexis fans downplaying it because of how it went but yeah she probably was. If not, she was very infatuated. At one point she broke down and cried on her staircase over it. Additionally, some of the things she did in Sonny's name were quite extreme. Railing at AJ telling him that Sonny was Michael's daddy and AJ was nothing was one. Alexis Davis really should have had more sense. At the time, in 2002 Alexis was "gone" for Sonny. They moved on quickly but I think it was there.

I think that they were two people who moved as one, although a stormy one, professionally and although she wasn't in love, she felt something for him, and that led to passion. Alexis has always been starved for affection and things happened. However, the pregnancy made her see things through different eyes and what was okay for her was not okay for this innocent little baby that she was carrying. She always wanted more for her daughters than she tolerated for herself.
