  • Unpopular Opinion re Michael and Nelle

I think Nelle is a psychopath. However, I have little sympathy for Michael. Nelle came to town to destroy his mother. In the process of destroying his mother she lied, used her parents grief over Morgan's death. In using their grief she get Sonny drunk, undressed him and laid in bed with him to fake an affair. She did this all with no remorse. Once she found out that her actions were the result of a lie from her father she still showed no remorse. She still felt she was justified and that Carly was her enemy. Michael knowing all of this dated her and fell in love with her. It would be one thing if Nelle was remorseful for her behavior but she wasn't. The writer had Michael feel sympathy for a character that didn't deserve it. I would have been ok if Micahel forgave Nelle for himself and to allow himself to not hold grudges but pursuing a relationship with her mad zero sense.

Therefore, I have zero interested in this custody storyline. Its is mildly entertaining because CL is a joy to watch and I am enjoying her sparing with everyone on canvas but I can't get over the fact that Michael never should have had sex with Nelle in the first place.

I love Nelle I don't think she is a psychopath or a sociopath at all she can feel love. She loves her son and wants her child. I don't feel bad for Michael at all either though. Michael did cause the car crash he would have had his child before if he was not related to a sociopath Carly and a Mobster Sonny. I hopeNelle gets her son.

This! And I don't necessarily want sole custody for either..hope the judge does shared custody whether that's what they are going for or not.

Whenever Wiley was conceived I don’t think Michael was thinking with his brain

I agree that Michael went way too far in giving Nelle the benefit of the doubt - and now he is PAYING for it - with EVERYTHING that he's got. He's trying to backpedal and make things right - but is just getting in deeper. It's too little too late - but he's TRYING to do whatever he can.

Right now the BOTTOM LINE is - who is the BETTER PARENT to raise Wiley?

        It's pretty well a no-brainer.

Even with this idiocy of a plan - Michael and Willow will be a million times better to raise Wiley than Nelle and......….Julian.

Willow is not the child’s mother. She needs to stop being obsessed with another woman’s child

Willow is a concerned, compassionate human being who recognizes that Nelle is a sociopathic psychopath. She is naturally trying to do what she can to protect Wiley. Like ANY normal human being would. It was an awkward position to be put back into - but I think she just tried to do was was right.

She set up the whole car was going to explode thing (it wasn't. It was a set up). She panicked and grabbed the wheel because she didn't want to die with Michael. She caused the accident.
And all she loves is the idea of having a meal ticket. I'd say she loves herself, but even she knows she isn't worth loving.

Nelle did think the car was going to explore. Michael and Chase set her up and that is why it didn't explode.

Nelle grabbed the wheel in real fear.

I don't agree that Michael caused the crash, yes he was driving but she was all but on top of him yelling at him. And she did grab for the wheel. Yes, he should have stopped when she asked but she shouldn't have planned his death by trying to sabotage his car. She is in no way shape or form an innocent victim of that accident. She also put herself and the baby she has claimed to love in a car she thought to be incredibly dangerous. Yeah, that's a loving mom right there

Also, at the time when Michael chose to pursue a relationship with Nelle I'm not sure if they knew then that she was actually a cold blooded killer. They just thought she was misguided because of her dad. Did he sleep with her after he found out she killed her fiance?

They were kayaking in whitewater rapids. Zach's kayak is filling with water and he overturns, and that tiny girl is supposed to save HIM and not herself??? Not in my world!! You have to be safe first before you help the other person. I live on a river with perilous conditions and it's every person for themselves in a kayak. Not in the large boats most of us own but for the kayakers, who've usually come many miles and are far away from the large boats

I still think there's room for it to be accidental. Chase had feelings for Nelle, and I don't mean hatred.

She admitted to it. I don't see wiggle room when we've heard her confess. Especially since she went on to try and kill Michael for the same reason. And I'm not really willing to apply real life to what someone made up in their minds

I don't feel bad for either of them. In fact I don't think either of them are fit to raise this child. He'd be better off being raised by wolves in a back alley than stuck with either of them.

Nelle is nuts, but Michael aint much better. Although the show would have us all try and believe Michael is a saint and Nelle is the devil which always makes me laugh. Honestly I just feel bad we're all stuck having to endure months of terrible plot points over this kid.

Wiley really is Michael 2.0 with the parent roles reversed.

Michael isn't perfect - but he has been increasingly bonding with Wiley for the past two years. He has GENUINE LOVE for his son, has been taking great care of him since he's got him back, is more than capable of CONTINUING to take care of him, is raising him in a safe and secure home, and can financially provide for him - without worry.

Nelle sees her kid as a meal ticket - to FINALLY "win" over Carly. Straight outta the horse's mouth.

Nelle is a sociopath unable to feel love and has no business raising a pet snake let alone a child and Michael is a boring idiot ..he brought this all on him self after everything she did to his family...he should have dumped her when Carly found out she drugged Sonny

In fairness to Michael, Nelle was written differently when she first came on. We saw her show regret when she drugged and undressed Sonny -- she was presented as being much more of a gray character. At that point we knew that she was trying to hurt Carly and that she was somehow motivated by a desire to get revenge for her dad and we didn't know exactly why. We had no idea that she had murdered her previous fiance. The writers left open the possibility that she really was being falsely accused for a long time (same thing when she was blamed for the jewelry disappearing on Crimson's Morocco shoot). I don't know if they decided the gray version of the character wasn't clicking (I don't remember there being a lot of Melle fans during the relationship) or whether the actress's decision to leave influenced them. But at some point they changed Nelle from being gray to being full-on psycho.

I never saw her as gray, and I never saw any regret for the heinous things she did. Even after she knew the truth about her kidney, she continued her tour of destruction with Carly and Michael. She is a total psycho without an ounce of compassion or heart.

            Exactly!

When Michael stood by Nelle they were redeeming her. They put her at Crimson and Nelle had won over Nina, Dillon and Michael. Nelle actually had friends and I was a fan of hers.

When the actress decided to leave the show the writers turned Nelle into a nutcase killer.

No matter what they do, Nelle will have killed her ex fiance in in cold premeditated blood for his money. Unless they give us a rewrite and some new flashbacks or a DVD to explain her criminal behavior. I hope they come up with a DVD to explain Nelle giving Michael the dead baby.

Nelle is definitely wired different than others.
Is it from being raised by Frank Benson - and schooled that nothing is his fault? Nelle's comments are all focused on Carly: YOU should have stayed and raised me, You should have recognized me when I came to PC. YOU should have welcomed me into your home when I was pregnant.
Is it from being the biological child of two people with Mental Illness in their family genes? Nelle framed Sonny to look like he slept with her (to get back at Carly), then she gas lighted Carly, and she killed her first fiance' to get his portion of the family fortune and tried to do the same with Michael, AND betrayed Valentin and Nina when she first worked for them. Nelle has lied about 1) the circumstances of his birth, 2) how Jonah/ Wylie were switched, 3) that she was trying to escape with Wylie when the truth was realized, 4) that she loves her son (the kid), and how in the world did she marry SHank??

IF Nelle were capable of redemption, wouldn't Carly and Nina's attempts when she first came to town have set her on the straight and narrow path? Nelle is psychologically flawed. By calling Wylie "the kid" in front of her attorney, she demonstrated a lack of maternal concern. The custody case is not about her love for her child - it is the final attempt to get back at Carly through Michael for "deserting her" all those years ago.

Michael is written as kind, compassionate and naive which i like about him. He has a certain kind of innocence about him.
My issue with it is they also try to make it out that he is successful at running ELQ which i find hard to believe since he is very naive. That’s quality does not work for someone running a powerful company like ELQ.
These are the things that make GH unbelievable but we just shrug and say we will believe it because it’s just a soap. Soaps could be so much better if someone writing thought these things.
we are supposed to see Michael as gullible and naive when it came to his history with Nelle and Sasha’s cheating plan but are also supposed to believe he is a smart successful CEO. No, i don’t think so...
And I’m not saying Successful CEO’s can’t be kind or compassionate, of course they can but not as gullible and naive as Michael is. He doesn’t use his brain. He couldn’t even consider Sasha and Chase planned it. I mean come on..... that is absolutely ridiculous that the thought didn't enter his mind.

Any sympathy I have is reserved for Wiley and Lucas. Both of them were dragged into Nelle's web through circumstance. Everyone else in this farce willingly made idiotic choices that are needlessly perpetuating this cycle.

I don't remember, didn't Michael stop dating Nelle after he found out what she did to Sonny, lied about everything & that she was Frank's daughter? Maybe not. We know she was already pregnant when he broke it off with her. What was it that made him do it? She didn't frame Carly till she was very pregnant.

No he still pursued a relationship with her after the Sonny incident citing that she was a victim of Franks lies despite her showing zero remorse for her actions. Even when she was gaslighting Carly he was defending Nelle. It wasn’t until he learned about the dead fiancé that he finally opened his eyes.

He did break up with her for a while after the mess with Sonny came out. He took her back later and then left her again because she’d told one too many lies. I don’t remember exactly what she lied about, but he finally had enough.

I think up until he found out that she really was a murderer he thought she wasn't any worst then his mother because up until that point she really wasn't. None of them knew she was gaslighting Carly I don't think really until the end

I still think Michael would be the better parent by far. I wouldn't trust Nelle. BUT at times I want the whole Corinthos gang to be brought down a few notches. Michael was insufferable to Brad butting in about what was best for the kid. We kind of had to forgive since We knew that was really Michael's child but he really went over board for a godparent and there sure was a lot of Carly in him. If he goes along with this fake marriage I want it to blow up in his face but I don't want Nelle to get the child SO I guess I won't get all I want
