  • alan didn't have to die

if they were that hard up for money they could've faded him into the background. i miss bobbie, monica, tracy etc but at least we still see them once in awhile and know they're alive. sorry i'm rewatching the MC Hostage crisis lol

Agreed 1000000% percent. Killing him was a bad long-term decision. I would love Alan to be on the canvas now, he should have been the patriarch of GH.

Even they realized it was a mistake as he returned as a ghost to haunt Tracy and comfort Monica. I wish he could still do that.

He should have returned as a ghost to haunt Frons, Guza and Phelps.

I loved Alan as a ghost. In some ways I liked him dead more than alive and I really loved him alive. He will always be my Prince Charming.

So many of the murders at that time were senseless and for fifteen minutes of storyline. The show has never really fully recovered.

Guza and JFP hated the vets and systematically decimated the Qs, for absolutely no reason other than to give Jason (WHO NEVER LEARNED FROM THESE SUPPOSED LESSONS) angst.

Of course it's Jason\s fault, it's always is, nothing new.

No, it’s JFP, Guza, and Frons’s fault - Jason is fictional. They killed off one of GH’s signature families to give their Sopranos-knockoff another chapter of angst that changed nothing for Jason except pissed off fans. And the fact that they fired Stuart Damon, 30 year vet, right before Xmas, is indicative of that regime. The same ppl who fired Anna Lee shortly before she died.

The writers at the time IMO missed a great opportunity for a special scene by not letting Jason make it to Alan’s bedside to apologize and tell him he loved him before he died. That would have been a tear jerker.

Also missed again was Alan the Ghost appearing before Jason so that scenario I mentioned above could happen. I wished for that at the time but they only cared that Alan haunted Tracy for changing his will.

I was hoping for the same things. Maybe Jason will get an episode where that will happen.

Exactly - huge disappointment in how Alan’s death played out, and that Alan even died. Since then the show has left so many loose ends and incomplete stories. Also added too many unnecessary characters.

So why do we watch?? LOL so we can have something to complain about I guess. Seriously I enjoy most of the show but still experience frustration when stupid is in the writing !!

Well, no, Alan didn't have to die. But the showrunners wanted a big shocking death, and that sure fit the bill.

And they probably wanted to save themselves Stuart Damon's salary too.

Alan's death makes it even cray-crayer to me that the showrunners tried to have Mr. Craig stick around and give him capers with Carly and a romance with Alexis. He was responsible for Alan's death and he shot Robin. Trying to normalize him was just bizzaro.

This is actually the one thing I hate from that regime the most. I don't know that I'll ever forgive them for getting rid of Alan. To this day it's one of my most "how dare they" moments of daytime.

I hated when they killed Alan Quartermaine, Tony Jones, and Rick Webber.

Alan didn't need to die and should not have died. IMO the #1 mistake GH has made.

This, to me, was the single worst decision of any writing team on GH. It was a completely unnecessary plot point that should NEVER have happened!!!
