  • SPOILER! GH Promo- Flashback Friday

  • #2
Until they actually show a classic, I have no interest. Something from a year or two is just another rerun. I wish GH would take a cue from a competing soap which is showing actual classic episodes from the 1980s and 1990s. Otherwise, what is the point, except as filler?

I'm disappointed GH hasn't followed what Y&R has begun doing. Their 80s and 90s reruns have been phenomenal these last few weeks and more soaps should start doing the same thing. At least DOOL has the excuse of having a 8 month backlog of new episodes to run in the meantime, GH is wasting their Fridays on episodes that aren't even "classic".

I’ve stopped watching GH on Fridays altogether. Now if they started playing episodes from 80s or 90s I might have to tune back in. That said, those days stories were told over weeks, so many folks might be lost watching one episode in a vacuum.

Me too and the ratings for the first Flashback Friday were dismal - 1.30. I don't expect they will get any better. I think their overall plan was to explain current characters storylines to possible new viewers tuning in during the Covid 19 crisis so they will keep watching when it is over.

They should just call them what they are- reruns. They're not going to show any old episodes viewers want to see.

How embarrassing LOL. What do they do, dust off the vault and then dig in the “within the last two years” section?

Maybe GH is set up differently than the other shows (with rights and ownership stuff), so they aren't allowed to show older shows.

How about digging in that vault for some young Robert Scorpio and Holly.. or Robert and Anna and or even Luke and Laura, Frisco and Felicia. There are thousands of shows they could actually show the viewers from Gh's great past. Hell, they could even go to You Tube and find them. I've often wondered if they just hate to show how great the show used to be compared to today's crap writing.

You might have stumbled on something there! LOL. I would love to see some Mary Mae Ward, Ned and Lois and the era when Sonny was just a supporting player who no one much cared for let alone worshipped him. Jason Q before his brain damage on one episode might be interesting. I would not even mind original Carly (Sarah Brown) when she first came to town. Or even the first couple of Nurses Ball episodes when they were really lavish and entertaining.

Unfortunately, I've been doing the same...
I try to do yardwork or put on some good oldies ♫♪ music and mop my floors..
That way it feels like I've accomplished something ~ and then I have wine.

              Stay healthy, everybody ♥

If that is the case then they need to stop promoting these "flashback friday" as classic episodes from a vault. it's embarrassing.

LOL we have "flashbacks" every day now. Yesterday's show was practically nothing but one long flashback.

So today is the Ava-centric eppy? IMHO - after yesterday and Ava smarting off to a child displaced from the home that she loved (Yes, I know - it's Charlottte, Helena-in-the-making), the Ava eppy is appropriate. New viewers will learn what makes Ava tick.....

I was taking a break from GH when that episode aired. I'm definitely going to watch it.

Just putting this out here- ABC is not calling them "classic" episodes. Viewers are the ones assuming the flashbacks will be older episodes.

I guess you didn't watch the promo

And i quote (WORD. FOR WORD.) :

"It's GH Flashback Friday's. We're digging into our vault and dusting off our classic episodes."

Ok, thanks. I can't get the sound to work on this video, I didn't realize they were saying that. Yeah, that is definitely false advertising in that case. They must think viewers can't even remember what happened two years ago. ?

soapgirl9 - Clearly they're not digging very far LOL.

I will be pleasantly surprised if they show anything before 2010. I've gotten my hopes up in the past that they would keep their word with old episodes.
