  • What happened to Lucky??

I have been catching up on GH since in quarantine. I only usually have time to watch youtube in spurts.

There was a scene with NuNik where Liz says he is as gone as Lucky and Emily.

I didn’t think Lucky died? I thought he was overseas. Huh? Did he have a nervous breakdown like Laura?

I mean the years I watched we were shown what a great dad he was and how he wanted a family.

It feels as if Franco is living the life that Lucky was living for a long time.

Lucky is alive and well somewhere in the world. Recently Aiden went to visit him and spent some time with him.

He's still alive, I do agree it was an odd way for Liz to phrase it. At one point Lucky was living in I think either Ireland or England.

Lucky left and pretty much went radio silent with Liz and boys for years. He even returned for a Christmas wedding for Laura and Kevin, but didn't get to see them and instead sent his regards with his mom later and Liz and boys coukdnt go to the wedding because a blizzard (and why he left). Then he was in Africa helping orphans there and unreachable. But now he is back in Ireland (he left to originally go there because that's where his dead wife
        was from).
Basically the show wrapped up Lucky as the guy who pretended to want to be a family man so he could appear better then his dad, but in the end Lucky turned out to be just like Luke and not interested in being held in one place.

Ha! Interesting they went the Luke route. Ethan was Luke-like. Lucky..not so much.

He really had more of the heart of Laura. Ever since he was a little kid.

Sounds more like he had a mental breakdown like his momma too.

His nickname should've been Luckless. He would cry so much the last few storylines he had. It must have been exhausting for JJ to do those kinds of scenes all the time.

Elizabeth recently mentioned Aidan spending a school break with Lucky in Ireland. So he’s alive. Beyond that we have heard nothing about him.

On Steve Burton and Bradford’s podcast they had a two part interview with JJ at the end of last year. It was fantastic.

Unfortunately, it seems like more of a logistics issues. His family is in Nashville and he doesn’t want to uproot the kids, which makes sense. So he is focusing on the music right now.

Still, I love JJ but I miss Lucky Spencer and would accept a decent recast at this point.

He was written totally out of character and ran off to Ireland. I have no idea why the writers decided to destroy the legacy of Luke and Laura's only son. I'm a big lucky fan and I'm still really angry that they have done this. Lucky love those boys and he never would have abandoned them like this.

I think Lucky was written out of character too. But that's in part mainly because we had 3 different Luckys. I like and respect them all but JJ IS lucky. JJ won Emmys (plural) for this role. He truly embodies Luke and Laura too. Plus he grew up on set. Additional, LL2 was such a great knod as the successor to Luke and Laura as the next big super couple (last imo). If not for JJ leaving I would have never big a Liason fan but I'd never take back Liason for nothing at this point. But Lucky was definitely written out of character 1). He would have never be one a cop. 2) he would have never abandoned his boys 3) the writers wasted JJ return and turned him into a bully in 2009,2010. Lucky would have NEVER talked to Liz like that. But of course Liz was written out of character. But we all know that's back politics. Anyhow, lucky needs to be on screen. If they have to recast whatever but GV is hot so brig him back.

I agree Jrjames84. He has been written out of character throughout the years. It has really been sad as a Lucky fan to watch.

If you go back to the 90s when he was a little boy/teenager you really see the wise old sweet soul that he was until JJ left in 99.

I was watching the Luke, Laura, and Lucky returns clips on youtube and even at 11 he was one of the best written characters on the show. Luke’s street smarts with Laura’s love of family and home.

One of the continuous narratives during that time was how Lucky wanted a normal family life and didn’t want to live on the run. He loved PC and that is a big reason Laura fought so hard to keep them there.

Then when he was so wonderful and gentle with Liz during her trauma. He always put her first and encouraged her to go to NYC with art school and was working hard to save for their life there. She even remarked their next project was to do something for him because he was so loyal and focused on Helping after the rape. Then the fire happened.

I wish there was more consistency in writing and the characters histories. I don’t think that anyone who watched after 99 really got to know the real Lucky. With the recasts and the writing regime changes his character really got fragmented and suffered.

But I would love for a writer to capture his essence again so we could see him as the wonderful sensitive, soulful, and loving character that he is...

I agree too mes349. To me anyone who didn't watch in the 90s doesn't understand Lucky or Liz or Liason. Some say they do but I can't comprehend anyone not loving Lucky as a character. Nor, people who don't like Liz. The writing was so rich and wonderful then. They took the time to develop a character. Even Robin was so great. I feel like Sam is like a second rate version of Robin. I saw a scene with Jason and Robin the other week and their was so much little things Jason did in one scene. He was silly and loving and you never see Jason like that now. Robin was so good in this time period too. I only watch GH now to catch up on the characters I do love (very few) but GH of the 90s was gold. I personally, don't think any of these stories they've had after 2003 were any good but for a handful. I will say in the last couple of years it's gotten better.

JJ is the best Lucky for me and no other actor could or would touch how plays the character. That being said Lucky is too important of a character to be off the screen for long. No reason why he shouldn’t of been recasted.

Agreed. If we have to I would like a recast that captured the real Lucky. Intuitive/Empathetic, smart, soulful, loving, and a fierce protector of those he loved.

The way they wrote him off was so weird and out of character that it is hard to take seriously. And the different writing regimes during the 2000s never really captured who he was and that is JJ’s version.
