EPISODE COUNT: December & 2019 Totals

Happy New Year! Below are the counts for December and 2019 total. As always, these are for number of episode appearances, not for length of screentime.

This month saw the return of Jane Elliot as Tracy, last appearing in May 2017, and the brief return of Matt Cohen as Griffin. This month was also Steve Burton's lowest monthly count since his return in September 2017.

In the next few days, I'll be posting top 100 character/actor counts for this decade of 2010-2019 and the updated top 150 characters/actors from my earliest records of 1977-2019. Let me know if you have any questions!

I’m still so happy seeing Rebecca herbst in the top, she deserves it, cause even when she gets crappy storyline she always gives it 100%.

I continued to watch GH, after I left my parent’s home in 2000, year after year primarily due to characters like Elizabeth (and her portrayer Rebecca Herbst). Who works as a nurse at GENERAL HOSPITAL.

To see this amazing actress ....whose fans retaliated against TPTB to prevent her from being let go in 2011... finally crack the top 5 is FANTASTIC. Finally after 22 years of dedication she is there.

For some reason, the postings for people in 3/2/1 episodes keeps being flagged as “unapproved” so hopefully that gets approved soon!

I love that FV wanted to reduce GF to only 4 episodes a year off-contract before she said no, and thanks to our protests, she was on for 6 episodes in December, a little over half of what Sonny was in. In one month, she appeared more than he had planned for the entire year, at least after what I had read on this board. This is a hearty thanks to all who joined that protest for this beloved character.

I only hope that Laura gets a major story of her own and that we see a lot more of her in 2020.

GF is my favorite, and it was great to see her this past year and hopefully next year as well!!

Also interesting to note that only two actors appeared in more than 50% of episodes.

2019 also had the second lowest yearly count for the #1 spot (the lowest being 2013).

Thanks for all the hard work and doing this, @ghfan96.

There are 15 actors that have more than 100 episodes for the year. Just curious - how does that compare to other years?

It's about normal - the density of the numbers changes, though. I'm going to post the top 5 percentages for each year in the decade to show how the averages changed from the last full Guza year of 2010 (and the year of Every Day Dante) to now.

There are so many people on this show. There are no lead actors. Not in appearance rate or actual leading of story. Everyone's reduced to a supporting level actor. It's annoying. And LW's count dropping by nearly six actual weeks of shows is crazy. That's a lot of money to lose right there. Mid-contract, that seems like it shouldn't happen.

Didn't Laura Wright have an injury, or something that kept her off screen for awhile?

                    I completely agree with this!

But I do wonder how many episodes she's been in when she hasn't said "Franco"? Beginning with 2016, has there been even one Elizabeth episode when she hasn't said "Franco"?

This was also the first time since 2003 that Robin was not seen, and the same for Emma Drake and Max Giambetti since their debuts in 2009 and 2001, respectively.
