    Grand Hotel Premiere

Ok, so I just saw the commercial for Grand Hotel, and that it premieres June 17. I thought this show was the reason Bryan Craig left General, and that it had been airing for a while already now?? BC has been gone at least 2 years, hasn’t he? Was there a delay? Was it supposed to premiere sooner? Just a little confused.

About a year or two ago he was on a CW show, Valor. Unfortunately, it only lasted one season.

Ohh so maybe that’s what I was thinking of...he left for that show and then it yanked and he got this one. Ok, thanks.

OP, I thought the same thing. Seems like we have been hearing about this show for ages. I think what is confusing us is ABC aired a trailer for the series over a year ago. I'm not sure if that is the usual marketing strategy to start advertising so early. They did delay the opening once, but only by a few months. It was supposed to come out Spring of 2019 but they pushed it back to summer of 2019.

Yeah, as I recall, it was also slated as a mid-season replacement. It's usually not a good sign about the network's confidence when it keeps getting bumped back like this.

He thought once he got that Emmy, it was going to open up doors and he would become this big star. We'll see about that with two cancelled shows (seriously, that Grand Hotel nonsense is not going to last) behind him.

Plenty of soap stars move on to bigger things. Particularly young ones. He's 27 and already a regular on a second TV series. That suggests to me he made the right choice to leave. I love soaps but if I was an actor I'd want an easier schedule with more money too.

That "Grand Hotel nonsense" is based on an EXTREMELY popular Spanish show called 'Gran Hotel" that is being executive produced by Eva Longoria. It's not some cheap little show, and the character he's playing is a major supporting character.

Sometimes leaving a soap for hopes of getting into a primetime gig doesn't work out. Look at Julie Marie Berman. She hoped to find work in primetime and she basically vanished. Nathan Parson is a lucky one along with Ryan Paevy. They are both tall handsome and sexy. Both are working steadily. Brandon Barash who played Johnny Zacharra tried his hand at primetime and found very little work and is back on soaps again at DOOL. Tony Geary was on GH for 37 years. He finally figured out he better stick with a steady job as long as he could. Hollywood is a tough place for any actor. When a program keeps getting pushed back it's usually because the network has little faith in its success.

Berman didn't vanish. She is a regular on Casual on Hulu and was on eight episodes of Chicago Med as a doctor.

I think Bryan is being quite smart and taking risks while he’s young. It’s actually quite an achievement to get have two prime time series under his belt at his age, even if they don’t work out. He should keep pushing while he has youth on his side. If I were him, I would only be concerned if I were pushing 50 and my career primarily consisted of just being on a soap. There are far more opportunities on the media landscape to explore these days. Just my thoughts.

I was about to say the same thing. The Grand Hotel promos make him look like a big part of that show. He's doing well.

RegalBeagle - His character is a major supporting character if they even remotely follow the show that Grand Hotel is based off of which is 'Gran Hotel,' an extremely popular Spanish show.

I was so unhappy Valor was cancelled. It didn't have high ratings, but I think it got better as the season progressed storyline-wise. His character was a jerk, but Bryan's acting made it very believable.

BC is a great actor and isyoung and gorgeous. Whether Grand Hotel lasts or not, it is on a major network and offers him exposure. I hope this will lead to more offers and great opportunities for him.
