Shiloh & this DOD storyline is getting too much airtime. And I believe it's one of the factors contributing to the ratings decline.

Counts are incredibly low nowadays. LW’s count seems absurdly low. Lol. 51/83 is roughly 61 percent, most people appear less than 50 percent of time. No one is eating this show alive, more like everyone’s a secondary type character to a “day player”. I’m not sure this method works better than others. Show remains poor.

I prefer a balance, even when it comes to my favorite characters. I remember reading that Dante had a year where he was not in only like 14 episodes for the whole year, which is ridiculous.

If you think about it, Carly is really just a supporting character right now. She's in a lot of other people's stories but doesn't have one of her own right now (besides being pregnant but thats not a story). They're getting her episode count up by having her drop in with a lot of different people.

I think what it comes down to for me is that the storytelling isn't balanced. I don't actually mind the DOD story per say (except for Sam's part lately) but its on everyday, so that other people's stories are only featured like once a week. I mean, if you look at the other stories like Oscar, Nina/Sasha/Valentin, Liz and her family, they're all way down compared to the DOD and Ryan characters, which has also been going on forever and was the main thing for months before DOD.

For me, and this is just my opinion, but it makes it so that I'm sick to death of the main stories, but don't see the secondary ones enough to really care about them either. Not sure if that makes sense or maybe i'm just being way too picky. I feel like I see Shiloh and Co way too much, but can't invest in other characters and stories because sometimes we don't check in on them for a week or longer.

But there should be established leads, supporting characters, tertiary characters, and day players. This method seems balanced but it’s really not because everybody’s “story” devolves into complete incoherence to accomplish what I consider a numerical balance that is not a logical balance.

I do see what your saying. Last few years Only 11/12/13 characters a year have hit 100 episodes. Their using the actors less obviously as a budgeting thing

Aw, Elizabeth is written as a Baldwin? That sucks.... They just put her in episodes to give her a minimum, her scenes are SO short and meaningless, what a shame. Thank you ghfan96 for posting

From what Im hearing at various GH sites, this DOD story isn't working yet...but its dominating air space so viewers are tuning out of DOD episodes completely or fast forwarding it’s scenes. With the exception of Kristina’s intervention meetings.

Something has to change to salvage this story since they probably can't just end it suddenly (after so much investment). The only way I can see this happening is if Shiloh has been craftier then everybody all along and bigtime gets the upper-hand. Puts fear in the eyes of all key players.
