Did the writing change about Sonny's part in the "body" story ?

I thought when first introduced this story was about Sonny hiding a body FOR Scully - not that he killed that guy. Sonny was 18, carrying out his first assignment, Scully told him to bury a body killed by Scully or someone else.

I may have misundertood from the beginning but I thought it was the gun that would incriminate Sonny because he handled it when he hid it with the body without wiping his prints away. But today Carly and Jason both referred to Sonny as the one who actually killed Marino.

They cast Elizabeth Hendricks as the DA and decided to give her a backstory that tied to Sonny. Avenging her father’s death is more motivation than going after the guy who just buried his body.

Also I remember discussing on a thread how ironic it would be that Sonny would finally pay for his crimes by being convicted of a killing he didn't actually do !!

Yes - you are correct in your recollections. The original action tied him to the mob and gave Scully something to hold over Sonny should he turn away (imagine - jailed for something you did not do, LOL [sarcasm] ). Then two days ago they changed it to Sonny making his bones with the mob. and the reaction was 11+ pages long!

Nope I always thought/assumed/presumed that when you are being tested in "The Mob" that your initiation was always and forever that you yourself had to commit murder and that that's where they were always going with this story. They were vague on purpose and some people fell for it, some didn't. JMO

Burying an already-dead body was never part of the mob ritual like they spoke of.

More drama for the DA. Just burying is "meh"" compared to a hit & premeditation; it's capital

And maybe it's just time for Sonny to go.to. prison! Not like before. Even if for only a year; we can visit

Refer to the other 11 page thread - which was 3 or more threads eventually merged- that's been hashing this out for many many weeks ad nauseum.. It's open to viewer interpretation as to whether it changed or not. iits apparently the never ending viewer opinion topic. ,lol

Yes, it's a complete rewrite. Sonny had very specifically told Jason that Scully asked him to take care of the body, and he stated, I believe, that Scully had killed the man and wanted Sonny to dispose of the body. Sonny NEVER once mentioned that he killed the man himself. Fast forward to the other day, and now suddenly, Sonny is the killer.
