How do you feel about Tripp Johnson?

I want Joey back, too. But I am fine with this new guy. Although he does not seem like someone who has done prison time (and at a young age), I would like to see him back. I would give this actor a chance to play heavier scenes that dealt with his prison time and the whole ordeal with Ava.

It didn't make sense that there was never any real discussion about Ava between Joey and Tripp -- especially once Ava went off the deep end again. The current writers don't seem willing or able to deal with real in-depth, long term drama. If it can't be done in a plot twist or trope, then nope.

Ditto that. Most didn't care for him. I thought he was very reserved -- as he should have been, around the powerful characters he interacted with. Back in the Stone Age, our elders said "It's the quiet ones you gotta watch!" But after he tried to kill Ava, the writers were done with him. Wah!
New Joey -- does this guy seem like he could have smothered Ava to death? No.

I agree, Cat. Tripp is teflon. I'd had it with him, when he tried to slice Kayla. And he needed the Kayla seal of approval after that. The writers often try to steer us that way but I was having none of it.
Incidentally this is a great thread. Amazing how differently viewers see him.

Better Tripp, his uncle, in his life than Charlie the rapist or Ava. At least Henry is safe from both of them now.

I like Tripp as a good guy and a doctor. I also love his scenes with Steve and Kayla. Even though I cannot stand selfish Allie, I liked when they were first together and he forgave her for accusing him of rape. He also cared about her child from that rape. I would like to see him get the girl but mostly just have more story. How about some hospital drama. He is an adult now!!

Almost all crazy women on this show are hot LOL! Tripp would be too boring for Gabi I can’t see her even looking at him although she’s been with his cousin JJ, she may only do him to spite Ava (who isn’t around anymore) LOL!

I like Tripp. He was better written when he first was introduced. He had an edge to him and he was a bit of a rebel like Steve. If they had just kept going with the development and focused on his relationship with Steve, he would be in a better place now. I like that he is a doctor -- they need more doctors at that hospital. He has not had a good pairing and that is a problem. He ends up being a doormat kind of nice guy with the women he is paired with. He could have been good with Claire but they twisted that all up with Claire being crazy plus Tripp first being torn about Ciara and then being torn about Haley. But Tripp and Claire had nice chemistry.

And don't get me started about how they have written his blind acceptance of Ava. It makes no sense. He never knew her until way after he knew Steve and Kayla. He knew what she had done and still accepted her BS.

I would like to see him get grow closer to Steve through Black Patch and to Kayla through the hospital. I also want to see more sibling bonding with Stephanie and Joey (bring back Joey!). THEN find him a good partner.
