CLOUDFARE Security Message

Over the past few days you may have received a "Checking if the site connection is secure" message when accessing the site. This is perfectly normal and not cause for alarm.

This message indicates that the server is confirming that the SSL (the "s" that you see in the https before web addresses) security is, in fact, secure. This is not some sort of advertisement and it is not some sort of nefarious hacking.

Cloudfare, which is a provide of web hosting and security, has recently added this layer of security on the Soap Central message boards platform as an added layer of security.

The message may occur any time that your browser makes a new connection to the boards. The message may also stop appearing at any time as the process is further integrated into the boards.

    Fan Events: Does anybody know?

I've seen these fan events advertised regularly with various actors. Even actors who are no longer with the show, do these events.

Does anybody know how much the actors are paid for these things? It seems like a lot of bother.

Probably a couple hundred, possibly airfare as well.

No one forces anyone to attend.

I realize, of course, that no one is forced to participate or attend.

I only wondered what Melissa Reeves, for ex, who is retired from acting, would elect to participate in these events. They must consume a whole wknd. And since she's not promoting any projects, why do it?

I further noticed that some actors, like CB, rarely participate. WhIle EM is a regular.

I think the ones she does are in TN or nearby.

I would say they are well compensated for their time. And besides doing it for money, I’m sure the actors also do these events because they enjoy meeting fans.

I would love to hear what fans who have attended those events have to say about them. They sound well planned and organized.

If it is a fan run or business run event (not for charity) they definitely get paid. Fans attending the event will pay for a ticket to the event. The actor is paid by the event owners from their ticket sales. If they are attending a more traditionally run fan event (similar to how comic cons are run), they are getting paid from their autograph and photo ops ticket sales.

General Hospital has a more traditionally run convention every year with Creation Entertainment. I am sure the actors that attend that are getting paid.

Genre actors (sci-fi, comic, horror) can make from $3000 to over $100,000 just to show up for an event. It just depends on their cult following. Then the actor can make even more at the event if they sell enough autographs/photo ops, etc.
