Shawn to Jan: “I won’t let Belle take your baby.”

What the heck? Shawn should be working with Belle to get full custody of the kid (If it lives). Instead, Shawn is treating Jan like she’s a normal pregnant woman, trying to save her baby from that “big meanie” Belle, who happens to be his wife. Shawn needs to kick this psycho out of his house instead of treating Jan lIke someone who needs to be protected.

Agree, Shawn D.Brady (D is for Dummy)deserves whatever Belle dishes, at him, whether a divorce or cheating on him with another man. And why is the hell would Belle want Jan's baby at this point? Belle can see her marriage is over, and will want a divorce very soon with the way Shawn is protecting his rapist Jan Spears.

Hope needs to come check on her son. Where is Ciara? Someone needs to talk to Shawn. Ciara should have heard Shawn’s troubled mine when he asked to let Jan Spears babysit Baby Bo! He is going to lose his wife trying to pacify that psycho, Jan. Nothing he is doing is helping “his” baby. All Shawn is doing is alienating his wife.

The worst part is that it’s so unnecessary to dumb Shawn down for this storyline. There’s organic drama in Jan being pregnant with Shawn’s baby. Shawn isn’t even believable now.

You're right! The only reason Shawn is only being stupid is because the plot is for Belle and EJ to hook up. There is enough drama without Shawn being a big dummy!

The plot point writing on this show has never been worse. To make most of the stories “work”, and I use that term loosely, most of the scenarios don’t make sense, and most of the characters are OOC. Right now,Shawn is at the top of the list. Shawn has always known Jan was unstable, but now he thinks she’s stable enough to be in this kid’s life? Seriously Shawn should be doing everything he can to make sure this baby is kept away from Jan.

It seems, to me at least, that no one BTS is taking this show seriously. The HW has points he wants to make, and does, but the overall story telling
is not good, with the exception occasionally when something good slips in. I continue to take it day by day.

I agree, it feels like they don’t care about the quality of the show anymore. The quality has gone down over the decades, but it still felt like they cared. Now it feels like “let’s just shock, or write what we want to see, regardless of what viewers want”. And I know taping months ahead and budgets make it hard to change course. But it also feels like they don’t think things through. They don’t care if parts of the story connect, or have a natural flow, and they certainly don’t care about the dialogue. A character says one thing, than quickly says the opposite. It’s just a mess.

I have watched this show for more than 30 years, and I have had to take a break from it more than once, but there was always something that got me watching again. But lately, I feel like soon I can say goodbye permanently. There will nothing that will hold my interest. The writing is awful, and the characters that might keep me watching are either not given air time, or have one foot out the door.

Too bad soap characters are fictional, and can't hire people to advocate for them with the writers. E.g., "Please don't make me look like a complete moron."
Who's got the most scrambled brains in Salem. Susan, right? Would she be so bamboozled by Jan? No way. She's see right through the wench. Shawn, a cop, has less people reading skills? C'mon.

I find myself wondering whether the director ever says something like, "I know it's ridiculous, but that's what was written. Play it the best you can."

Yep. This is why Ron C is one of the worst writers. I hate when he does stuff like this. Instead of the drama coming from organic writing Ron creates this fake drama.

Yep, it’s always the same, no matter what show he is writing for. I would think he would have figured out by now, it’s this crappy writing, that usually gets him fired, or the show cancelled.

This HW lives in the world of the positive reviews. He never likes the negative, and the show reflects the bad writing.
