This message indicates that the server is confirming that the SSL (the "s" that you see in the https before web addresses) security is, in fact, secure. This is not some sort of advertisement and it is not some sort of nefarious hacking.

Cloudfare, which is a provide of web hosting and security, has recently added this layer of security on the Soap Central message boards platform as an added layer of security.

The message may occur any time that your browser makes a new connection to the boards. The message may also stop appearing at any time as the process is further integrated into the boards.

    Disappearing characters

Is there any character that you would not be surprised to see leave the show abruptly and basically be retconned out of Days history -- rarely or never mentioned again on the show? I'm talking about regulars on the show, not one off characters like that pilot who flew Sarah to the island.

For my answer, I could see this happening to Gwen. Although I don't think it will happen right away.

Although the Gwen s/l was ok and had some good moments for viewers I think the character is an ill-conceived mess in many ways and I could see the writers wanting to move on and not have her be part of the Horton legacy anymore, if Emily O'Brien exits the show.

Gwen isn't a Horton. If the writers choose to keep her as Jack's daughter she's a Deveraux.

If you want to get technical, biologically she's a Johnson! Jack is Steve and Adrienne's biological brother (Billy Johnson). Jack was a Deveraux via adoption!

They shouldnt do this with ANYONE, its unprofessional, lazy and a big middle finger to the fans, you cant just stop writing for a character and give them an off-screen, never mentioned departure. I will never ever to this day understand WTF happened with Neil Curtis or Don Craig and how they could just give them a scene and suddenly decide thats it it makes no sense from anyones point of view whether its the audience or even behind the scenes. Like did they just decide after filming that last scene they were leaving and didnt bother following it up or decide on the spot or what, like how does that happen? Its honestly ridiculous and writers and producers should never ever allow this to happen again, its not the 80s anymore and every character when leaving the series should get a proper and formal farewell whether that character is simply moving out of Salem or meeting a violent death. Dont just not show them on screen and never mention them again. Im still waiting for on-screen closure for Don Craig, just f***king address what happened to him and where he went.

Days is notorious for this, though. They did it to Rex for many years until they brought back the original Brady to play Rex. I think they’ve also done this to the character of Cassie. It is lazy. Can’t they just give them a real story for being written off? Going out to mail a letter or upstairs to take a nap and never return is tacky, lazy, and disrespectful.

I'm sure her grandfathers Harper and Duke would be proud of Gwen.

Jake. Once Jake leaves I don't think anyone will be like "hey do you remember that Jake guy".

      He lifts right out.

Allie, Johnny, Gwen, Chanel.... I could keep going. The way Days operates, they routinely cycle characters in and out. So unless you're attached to a particular character, it's easy to get caught up in different stories, and only after like 6 months do you realize that so and so hasn't been on the show. So it's not difficult for Days to get rid of characters if they want to.

Even Hope was pretty much removed quickly. Like one day she's there, next she's gone, and the show didn't miss a beat. I don't know if any character would be retconned out, but never mentioning them, or only mentioning them rarely is pretty much doing that.

Look at Gabi for example. She's a fan favorite. It would be easy to remove her by her going over to her company that's having a new start up in Italy. *poof* she's gone. Every once in a while Rafe mentions her, or Sonny does, but other than that, she's gone and because the fans were focused on the stories of the day, they barely missed her (accept for her biggest fans).

Who do I expect to see leave? Hmmm I'm thinking Gwen, Ava, and Chanel would be the most likely candidates. Not saying they will. But if it does happen, I'm guessing one or all of them.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not really asking if characters will leave the show. That's a given. I mean if the leave and it's then as if they never existed once they are gone. Anne Milbauer and Maxine are examples of what I am thinking of.

Summer was the one who was done away with and should have never existed.

Gwen should be done away with but not before it is discovered that she is not Jack Deveraux’s child.

Emily can be brought back as Taylor or some other new character with no one recognizing the resemblance to Gwen R.

The thing about soaps is that anybody and everybody is replicable. The show goes on and a focus shifts to other characters. That's the nature of showbiz. I suppose, if an actor leaves abruptly or is fired, they may not be able to film their final scenes. And once gone, a character becomes an afterthought to the writing team. They may or may not give a character a closure since they no longer care.

When for example, the very first time Nicole left, she wasn't given any closure. It's like Sami and Nicole were competing for newly single Austin. And then poof, without any explanation Nicole just disappeared. It wasn't explained why she was gone. She just didn't appear on the screen any longer.

                I smell a 5-episode Beyond Salem storyline.
