what was the point of tripp being declared dead for all of 2 minutes

even if it was just for the sake of the drama i have to say it wasn't written properly at all he wasn't even dead for an entire episode to allow some real reactions and some mourning.

Drama and some great performances (especially by Steve)!! Also gave us a bonus of Bo being the one to help him back!!! I like Tripp and was so happy he did not die!! And that jump out the window was a shocker and well done!!

Days isn't really a show that takes chances or has realistic storylines. I mean we thought we were going to get a storyline where Doug's family deals with his dementia...and then it was a hard swerve into devil territory.

I think if you're a longtime Days viewer, you know what you're getting when you sign up for it: Buried Alive, Doppelgangers, Masks, Devil Possession. However, I would like to see more true realism balanced out with the supernatural. More character driven storylines vs plot driven. I think Doug's "dementia" storyline was a brilliant fake out by the writers. GH had just wrapped their arc the year before and Y&R had competed theirs- the timing couldn't have been more perfect. Having Doug be the launching pad for this storyline under the guise of dementia was amazing.

Days has ‘killed’ and then revived so many characters in the last few years, that they didn’t want to pull the same trick again. Plus as already said so well by backheidi, Tripp’s death was dramatic and allowed powerful moments for the cast. Also, Peter Reckell’s return was so tied to the conclusion of the devil story that he couldn’t have appeared to Ciara on Monday and then to Steve on Friday- the impact would have been minimized. Also, Tripp had to be revived within a short time of his death, otherwise there would have been no medical explanation for his resurrection. People often come back to life within a few minutes after being declared dead. It would have been creepy if Tripp came back alive at his own funeral, so it made sense to keep it all in one episode,

That's the only part of Bo's return I liked, was that he saved Tripp for his best buddy, Steve. So glad Trip wasn't killed off!

My guess is that it was because of the limited time of Peter Reckell on set, and then editing those scenes into a coherent narrative.

For dramatic effect and character reaction plus giving ghost Bo something to do other than talking to Ciara. It did make me tear up and I’m no fan of Tripp.

It was made to go fast so they can turn attention to other stories tomorrow. It was devil wrap-up, which we all wanted, letting Tripp be the hero. Sweet use of Bo to save him.

All's well that ends well. Loved the last 2 episodes and Bo bringing Trip back to life after Steve and Ava's incredible performances. I though Trip was coming back a a new character according to what was posted here.

Didn't Tripp cheat on Ciara and string Claire along?

Maybe Bo should have minded his own business.

I don’t recall Tripp cheating on Ciara, but even if he did, cheating on a girlfriend is not grounds for dying. And sacrificing himself to save Allie and to get rid of the devil permanently is a pretty good reason for Bo to save Tripp.

I loved it and I knew ahead of time that Bo was going to save him and I still cried my eyes out. Even the scenes with Ava were heartbreaking. When Steve let lose I lost it. So glad they save Tripp I like him. So glad they had Bo save him for his friend Steve. I miss these two on the show together. I miss Bo and Hope.

One thing I've noticed Days doing for a while now is that they often have a story that draws out over a long time, and then raps up very quickly. I personally like it. It's like a season finale. Faster paced, no wasted time.

Sure they could have drawn that out a little longer, but it wasn't too bad.
