  • What was your favorite Days location shoot?

I know Days had quite a few, especially from 1984-2000. My personal favorites were the New Orleans remote in August 1984, with Bo, Hope, Alice, and Howie. They were in New Orleans with Maxwell Hathaway and his ‘daughter’ Megan, and the World’s Fair was going on at the time. One of the 3 prisms Stefano was looking for was in an art exhibit there, and Bo had to steal it. Afterwards, while on the run, he and Hope stopped off at a plantation and had sex, uh, sorry, I meant made love for the first time. It was all very well done.

The other memorable location shoot, and my personal favorite, was in November of 1984, when the plane carrying several Salemites crashed on a deserted island. When Roman arrived to rescue them, he ended up fighting Stefano on a cliff, where he was shot and thrown off of it to his death. Everything about those scenes were phenomenal, from the scenery to the camerawork to the music to the use of slow motion. Days also did a fantastic job of spreading out the shoot over a month and inserting those outdoor scenes with several scenes filmed in the studio, but looked like outdoor beach scenes. Once again, Bo and Hope were featured in the outdoor scenes, along with Roman and Stefano, and surprisingly, even Eugene and Calliope got to participate. So did Tony and Jasmine, for a little bit. Poor Anna, Liz, Carlo, and Nurse Honeycutt were stuck in the studio for their scenes. A perfect example of how a dramatic scene (Roman’s death) can be enhanced when it’s featured in a location shoot.

What were your favorite shoots, and why?

The NO s/l was good. Bo and Hope's not for real, but beautiful wedding, also.

80s scenes must have been something ....for me, and it may not have been a location shoot but a studio location shoot, it would be the roof that Sami and others lived in. Another one is when The Horton Square debut back in 2011. And I did loved TBD restaurant that Sonny owned.

The budgets these shows use to have, my gosh. Now Days doesn’t even have a budget big enough to cover the cost for multiple sets.

Stockholm- actually a studio lot, does this count. The story and “feel” of Europe made for really compelling storytelling.

            Greece
            New Orleans
            Miami

It was all good back then.

Can someone refresh my memory about some of the location shoots that were mentioned? I believe the one in England was in 1985 and featured Bo and Hope’s wedding, right? Can anyone say who else was featured? I’m guessing Kimberly and Shane, but anyone else?

The one in Greece- I feel like that was Justin, Steve, Kayla, John/Roman, and Diana, maybe?

Miami, I don’t remember that one at all, but I missed several years of Days in the 1990s.

Were the Mayan ruins where Marlena and Roman returned and found out who had kept them prisoner all those years? Who else was involved in that?

Miami- Google Days of Our Lives end of Miami montage 1985

Kim sleeps with Victor to protect Shane. Shortly after she finds out she’s pregnant with Andrew. Savannah Wilder was cool, I liked her and Chris Kositchek. Bo and Hope played football at the Dolphin’s stadium.

Greece was Justin and Adrienne’s wedding. Shane, Kim and Steve were there, but Kayla was back home being poisoned by her father-in -law Harper.

My favorite was probably Miami and that was 1985. The Mayan story location shoot was 1991 and was the culmination of who was behind Roman and Marlena's abduction and return. Roman, Marlena, John, Isabella, Bo and Carly were the main characters on location. The indoors scenes had other characters, including the not Joe Mascolo Stefano, but they weren't shot on location.

Bo and Hope in New Orleans/Oak Alley plantation.

Bo and Hope and Kimberly and Shane in England.

I miss the good old days when soaps had massive budgets and quality writing.

Greece and Mexico. But Greece number one for sure. It was incredible.
