I know Days had quite a few, especially from 1984-2000. My personal favorites were the New Orleans remote in August 1984, with Bo, Hope, Alice, and Howie. They were in New Orleans with Maxwell Hathaway and his ‘daughter’ Megan, and the World’s Fair was going on at the time. One of the 3 prisms Stefano was looking for was in an art exhibit there, and Bo had to steal it. Afterwards, while on the run, he and Hope stopped off at a plantation and had sex, uh, sorry, I meant made love for the first time. It was all very well done.
The other memorable location shoot, and my personal favorite, was in November of 1984, when the plane carrying several Salemites crashed on a deserted island. When Roman arrived to rescue them, he ended up fighting Stefano on a cliff, where he was shot and thrown off of it to his death. Everything about those scenes were phenomenal, from the scenery to the camerawork to the music to the use of slow motion. Days also did a fantastic job of spreading out the shoot over a month and inserting those outdoor scenes with several scenes filmed in the studio, but looked like outdoor beach scenes. Once again, Bo and Hope were featured in the outdoor scenes, along with Roman and Stefano, and surprisingly, even Eugene and Calliope got to participate. So did Tony and Jasmine, for a little bit. Poor Anna, Liz, Carlo, and Nurse Honeycutt were stuck in the studio for their scenes. A perfect example of how a dramatic scene (Roman’s death) can be enhanced when it’s featured in a location shoot.
