  • I feel sympathy for Nancy

Even though she's annoying a lot of the time, maybe she has a right to be? She has a husband who deceived her, and an irresponsible, vapid daughter who dumped her kid on Nancy to raise.

plus as someone reminded me in a previous post...Nancy was raped by her father's business partner.

So Nancy has had to deal with

    1. Being raped
    2. Giving up her kid for adoption because she thought Craig would leave her
    3. Craig's presumably never been attracted to her (i.e. she wasted her life on a guy who used her)
    4. Having flakey Chloe for a daughter
    5. Having her grandson Parker dumped on her in golden years

I can see why she's bitter.

She isn't nearly as annoying as some other characters. I hope she comes out the winner, meets a new man, who wants to be with her and won't lie to her.
Maybe Craig's new paramour is Leo. That's punishment in itself, for Craig's lies.

I feel for her as well. I would lose it if my husband did that to me. What a waste of her time. She probably thinks he never ever loved her and just settled. I also hope she finds a hot new guy to water her garden

I'm sorry to say that this storyline which from first glance seemed to have great potential is poorly thought out. Craig was the wrong character to choose in telling the story. Longtime viewers loved the unconventional pairing of Nancy and Craig. We rooted for them because they were the atypical soap opera couple. To add insult to injury, Craig is being rewritten and Nancy is made to look like a "beard" for Craig. Back in the 90s, Craig loved Nancy and together they schemed endlessly. With this new storyline, the future love interest for Craig looks to be Leo Starke who is an over the top cartoonish character, a former escort and blackmailer. I don't think this story will be winning any GLAAD awards unless this is the only "gay" storyline on daytime. There in lies the problem with Days' writing....Lack of tone. The mix of a serious storyline with camp. Days had a huge opportunity to tell this story, but unlike the incredible coming out story of Will Horton, this will be another stunt/shock value story arc that appears is already falling flat.

I agree. More about shock plot then continuity or character.

I agree. A big part of what people liked about Craig and Nancy was that they were an unconventional couple, and also that they were faithful to each other. Now it was all because Craig was gay? What a letdown! The characters and actors deserved better, and so did the audience.

I feel for her too! She already had insecurities that this will definitely feed into!! Now she will feel like the marriage was never real or meaningful!! And she was used! Very sad and not a story I am enjoying!!

The problem with these type of stories is that they're a little disingenuous and don't let the gay character be the bad guy and downplay how hurtful this revelation is.

Craig's gay. He knew he was gay. He always knew. He strung Nancy along from the time she was what a teenager (got pregnant at 16) and now she's a grandmother. He has wasted this poor woman's life.

I agree Nancy deserves better than this, and so do the fans! No point to take a seemingly happy long term couple, and bring them back just to wipe out their entire history! I guess the message Days is trying to send is there is no such thing as long lasting love, it is just a facade!

I said this in another thread but I think what Craig did is so disgusting. He dragged Nancy along for the ride to mask the fact that he was gay. She’s given her all to this marriage just too have the rug ripped right out from under her. It’s one thing to struggle coming out as a gay man but to knowingly hold someone the way Craig did Nancy is so selfish.

OMG!! The actress playing Nancy deserves an emmy!! I was crying right with her when she told Craig to leave and broke down crying and she was shaking. Absolutely amazing performance.

Of course what Nancy is going through is awful. A man she was supposedly happily married so many years to find out that it was based on lies and being betrayed in the worst way by the person who is supposed to love you the most. I don’t understand why the writers brought them back just to make Craig gay. I wonder if this is about the person who will be Craig’s lover. I wonder who it will be.

They wanted to tell this story, but they did not want to use Jarlena, Stayla nor Doug and Julie who are the only long term couples so Craig and Nancy got the honor.

I have sympathy for both, Craig, but also Nancy, not easy for both. I understand the disarray, anger and sadness of Nancy, I always very much appreciated Nancy and there she suffers, which is understandable.

I feel so sorry for Nancy to know her whole marriage was based on a lie. He used her to suppress his feelings and he’s willing to throw it all away for a new relationship like the past twenty years meant nothing.

I just hope his new lover will take him to the cleaners if Nancy doesn't.
