When will Sonny and Will return?

I find it frustrating that Will and Sonny were let go. At the time they were let go they were the only actors in the main cast not asked to return. Will's parents and sister are in front burner stories, it's disappointing to have them all there and not have Will there to interact with them. Will in particular is really needed on the canvas.
It's hard not to see it as biased against them being gay when there seems to be room for every other actor to return when they want.
I had hoped they might announce their return with the show renewed but so far still no news.
I know the actors have moved due to lack of work but they might return if they were offered a contract.

Both the actors have left acting now so they'd have to recast the roles. Chandler moved to Georgia and Freddie moved to Florida.

The actors may return if offered a contract. If not, I'd accept a good recast. It's particularly frustrating for Chandler to be let go like that when he's won several Emmys.

I think I read somewhere Chandler has a degree in Chinese or foreign languages. Therefore, he might pursue a career in education. I think I read he had an interest in that years ago, I might be mistaken. It would be nice to see the characters again.

Chandler moved back to where his family is (and I believe where he grew up). A set contract could get him back to the show. They should try.

I guess Days felt that they could not do much with WILSON, same with Sarah, but I hope they do return at some point!

I'm assuming Sarah left because she was perhaps unwell in some way. She looked incredibly thin in the months before she left.

Gay dude here responding to your post. Just want to say that I think it's very dangerous to make assumptions in that way...assuming that the characters have not come back because they are gay.

There are quite literally infinite reasons why the characters are off screen yet you hypothesize that its for some bigoted and hateful reason. The first reason that comes to MY mind is that the characters were no longer working and there was zero chemistry between the actors.

LGBTQ+ people face a lot prejudice and hate but unless you have some sort of actual insight into the minds of the people making decisions its quite a dangerous and irrational leap to make.

Your head is in the right place and I'm not trying to come at you, just some unsolicited advice from a queer big bro whose been there. Don't make those sort of assumptions about people's intentions...especially publicly. It's not fair. It say's more about you and where your head is at and doesn't provide any sort of actual clarity. You're forcing people into a defensive position without having any knowledge of the situation.

Yeah - No. I don't want Wilson to come back. I wasn't surprise the show let them go. Mainly because they were a dying couple whose fanbase basically pushed them into a box with no way of escaping. This is one case I do believe the show listened too closely at what the fans wanted. Wilson fans wanted Will and Sonny together - happily - and that's it. The problem with that it makes for an extremely lifeless couple with no story prospect. Not to mention the chemistry Chandler and Freddie once enjoyed at the beginning of Wilson's romance had faded and died out LONG AGO! Also, they never seem to be a couple who can carry a story on their own. I mean outside of Will's coming out storyline which included Wilson's romance, every major storyline they've had included a third character. From Nick, Gabi, Paul, and Leo, Wilson always appeared to need a third party to keep them interesting. That's fine but it's not a good thing. Sure every soap couple sometimes needs an outside force to give them stories and keep them compelling. But when a couple has to live and breathe on that all the time, then the foundation on said couple isn't all that strong to begin with. When you think of DAYS's great couples from Doug & Julie, Bo & Hope, Steve & Kayla, John & Marlene, Shane & Kim and so forth, they all had a third party involved in multiple storylines. But they also had plenty of storylines that focus exclusively on their coupling with no one else involved. Why? Because they were strong enough to carry their own story without involving anyone else. In the writers' mind, Wilson was never that type of couple. So they wrote them off...and I agree with them.

Yes! Yes! Thank you! One of the biggest issues I had with Wilson was that 1) They saddled Will with a kid far too young and far too soon and 2) they were too quick to domesticate Wilson. They were an old married couple even before they got married in their early twenties. The show never allowed Will to enjoy and learn what its like to be a single gay man. They saddled him with a kid, an instant boyfriend, an instant marriage all during a period of time when he should be having fun. I'm sorry but in the real world, Sonny would have been nothing more than a transitional boyfriend who Will would have probably remain friends with after they had broken up.

As for Will's personality, I totally agree with you. He should have been a much more devilish character. I'm not saying he should have been a villain. But he should have been a character who isn't above plotting and scheming and is totally unapologetic about it. Not only is he the son of Sami Brady but he's also the son of Lucas Horton and the grandson of Kate Roberts. Will has shadiness in his blood and it's sad that the show ever explored that. We saw a little bit of that when Guy Wilson's Will slept with Paul and we saw a little glimspe of that when Chandler Massey's Will returned having amnesia. Funny how when Will wasn't around Sonny did he suddenly become a far more interesting character.

And yes Wilson committed the worst sin for a gay couple...they were BORING!!

When people think of original Hope, EJ and Sami, they will point to the actors who has been there longer. (Kristian, James & Alison). Same with Will and Sonny. I don't think I am not correct, but correct.

I always felt Will's character clicked on the show...and Sonny's didn't.

Maybe they could pair Will with one of EJ's nephews...like Benjy's son? Like a gay villain...who isn't mincing like Leo.

What would you guys think if Will returned without Sonny, had some stories on his own for awhile, and then Paul returned and they gave it another go? Will and Paul were pretty interesting I thought until Will flip flopped back to Sonny.

I always thought Sami and Will battling for the same man (EJ anyone?) would have been a story that could have written itself. How many soap mothers and daughters and fathers and sons have been in triangles? Sami and Will after the same guy would have been shocking and riveting!

That would've been shocking. I did always think Will should've had more of Sami's scheming side. They did limit his possibilities by making him a nice guy, then pairing him with another nice guy.
