Chad telling Gwen she'd be a "good mother"

Ok, I know many are not happy with Chad with how he reacted to Abigail yesterday, and walking away from her, not answering her when she asked if he held her at fault for Gwen losing the baby. Yes, that bothered me, but I wasn't as angry at that reaction from him as most of you were, because Abby did make a mistake in what she did and it was a confusing time for him. However, my main problem with Chad yesterday was this......

Chad to Gwen: "You would, or would've been a good mother."(paraphrasing there)

Huh??? How could Chad not choke when he uttered those words? That made absolutely no sense for Chad to tell her that! He knows how this child came to be, by revenge, lies and manipulations, ALL STARTED BY GWEN, THE BABY'S MOTHER, and he doesn't think a child should be brought into this world under those circumstances, and he told her that in a very cold, restrained angered tone. So, under that basis for starting her pregnancy, how can he make that assumption that she'd be a good mother? IMO, that was lame writing to try and draw pity from the viewers for Gwen, so that she's not looked upon as a total monster.

TOO LATE for that, and she further proved what a horrible mother she would be, already using her dead child as a weapon just to hurt Abby. That's what she would've used her child as, if that baby had lived, always something to taunt Abby with and flaunt in front of her face. So how does all that equate to being a good mother?? Sick of the writing trying to make us feel sorry for this wicked wretch character!!!

That's a lie from Chad if I ever heard one.

I thought that whole exchange was awkward. I believe he told her he's not gonna be the person to comfort her and asked if there was anyone he should call to come see her... she launches into how there's no one and then starts crying about how the baby was her one chance to turn her life around and not be her mother's little monster or whatever.

To me, that proves she's gonna be an awful mother since she's already treating the baby like some sort of savior. The only thing that could make her better is if she stops trying to inflict pain on others and stops getting off on being a sadist.

I'm honestly so sick of this character and her constant sob stories, her constant need to manipulate people emotionally and make them feel sorry for her. She tried so many different tactics on Chad, even her dumb line about "we'll never see each other after today, you just want me out of your life." At least he was honest that time about how he was never going to move forward with her after all the awful crap she pulled.

I know it would make Chad look bad, since she's lying there after a big fall and claiming she just miscarried her baby, but I wish he would've just walked out the room as soon as Gwen started with her crocodile tears.

Well said Brenda4ev Gwen was grasping at straws yesterday trying to gain sympathy from Chad. He was pretty cold and restrained with her, just like he should've been, but when he told her that, "You'd be a good mother." That was a head-scratcher for sure. Considering he just read her all the evil and manipulative ways this child came to be, and is now using her dead child as a weapon, even though he doesn't know that.

She was a piece of work. First trying to put words in his mouth by saying, "You're happy the child is dead." then when he corrects her on that, she jumps to, "I knew you were happy." Huh? Really hon? Delusional much? So, cause he said he's sad the child died, that means he was happy when you told him you were pregnant? She goes from 0 to 100. Like I said, grasping at straws to gain an ounce of sympathy. Loved how Chad told her he was not happy about the pregnancy and the cold hard truth about herself and the whole mess SHE put them in, and that he is not the one to comfort her. She needs a reality check, big time!

It seems that every parent in Salem is told at some point or other that they are doing a great job. It doesn't matter what we have seen the parents do. This is just one more example of the words not matching the action.

It was stupid that Chad had to be in more than a couple second scene of hearing the news, saying he was sorry, and then sending Jack in. I agree it was a lie to tell her she would've been a good mother. Gwen never wanted Chad. She was pregnant because she was a moron who didn't use protection on her own seduce and destroy mission. Sounds like a great mom alright. I feel no sympathy for her either.

We really have no idea what kind of mother Gwen would have ended up being - it all depends on what direction the writers decided to take her character. Even in real life, people do sometimes change once they have a child.

Most of the parents in Salem are terrible at some point in some way, it's part of the drama.

Na. She may have been a good mother when it came to dealing with the child, but her actions would have made her a bad mother. Like Kristin she would be constantly getting into trouble, wanting revenge, and ultimately leaving the child to be raised by her father because she'd be going to jail.

She didn't even care about Abby's children, and how it affected them.. She's a vile person who's never shown any sign that she's actually capable of love that doesn't have strings attached. RickySpanish she took good care of Charlotte and Thomas. Not saying she deserved anything because she gave as good as she got, just that I believe she was genuine in wanting to be a good mother. At least she didnt proclaim she would rather go to jail than be with her kids if it meant making peace with her enemy. She also never abandoned her child and faked her death. She showed so much love for Abby's children when plotting to destroy their parents marriage. She was literally babysitting them when planning on ruining their parents lives. She didn't give the slightest care about how it would effect those young children. She doesn't deserve the joy of raising a child.

Gwen is in a constant state of depression and self pity...She is mentally ill and consumed with evil thoughts of hating and hurting Abigail 24/7...I think her whole entire life has been consumed with thoughts constantly in her mind of inflicting great pain on Abigail....She's dangerous. True, thanks to Abby getting her wish! Obviously, Abby forgot their shared hatred for Gabriela is why she welcomed Gwen into her life, was BFF and Nanny to her children! She also forgot; it takes two to conceive! Gwen didn't get pregnant by herself! Chag had sex due to Chad begging her, while bashing Abby!
