Loved Steve's reaction and response to Gwen

It was perfect - and long overdue. Jack is so wrong to even allow her into the home he shares with his wife as a visitor much less as a resident. What an idiot - and shame on Jennifer for allowing it. I really loved Steve telling Gwen she should beg Abigail's forgiveness. I have never liked Gwen and I hope she leaves town soon.

I loved Steve sticking up for Abby. He's a great uncle to her. I wish we could see more scenes with Abby and Steve together. Steve is smart and he knows that Abby owes Gwen nothing and she needs to be on her hands and knees begging for forgiveness.

I loved it. I was so glad Steve wasn't the foolish Uncle, like Jack is the foolish father. Gwen seemed a little surprised. Between Jack and
Chad, she has been getting use to people falling for her woe is me act.

I like both Jack and Steve's interaction with Gwen. Jack and Steve hated each other and Steve would angrily grab him by the collar, shouting in his face. I remember one hilarious encounter "I don't know man, I don't know why the hell you do half the things you do" or some such thing.

God Bless Steve! Finally someone who didn't look at Gwen with pity, or empathy, but with the side eye that she should be looked at. Steve needs to go further and tell Jack, "Sorry dude, but your newfound daughter is nothing but a manipulative witch that is destroying your relationship with the daughter you helped birth and loved her whole life." Please, more of Steve telling Jack and Gwen how it is and sticking up for Abigail!

I loved it! I'm glad to know someone in Abigail's life is still willing to stand up for her in all this. He was perfect with her. Not fooled by her "boo hoo, poor me" act and not willing to pretend she isn't a vicious sociopath who tried to destroy Abigail for no reason beyond being Jack's daughter. She's got Jack and Chad fooled with Jennifer off somewhere just going with whatever Jack says. Thank goodness uncle Steve isn't falling for it! Hope we get more scenes with Steve telling Jack the truth about Gwen and showing Gwen she can't fool everyone.

Yeah I love how Steve wasn't taken in but at the same token I can't fault Jack. He feels guilty because he wasn't there for Gwen so he's trying to overcompensate to her, while she's using it to her advantage. Even Steve cornered him on that fact, and its true. I also love how Jake looked when Chad was talking about how Gwen felt bad for all that was going on and how she was trying to do the right thing, Jake looked like give me a break. Yeah Jake knows Gwen well enough to know when she's doing one of her little snow jobs which is exactly what she's doing to Jack and to Chad. I was at first giving her the benefit of a doubt but lately with how she's been pouring it on so thick and talking about how Abigail can't accept her, boo who, I now see she is playing Jack and Chad. Love that neither Steve or Jake are falling for it.

Jack needs to get rid of the guilt trip. Sh*t happens and sometimes we can't redo past mistakes. That's no reason to go overboard at this point to try to make up for it. And yes, iceblue, your comment is dead on.

Gwen did get the sympathy, because at the time she hadn't been written as the total bad character she is now,
and it did make Jake look bad, a complete jerk. Writers have a funny way of doing that.

                @JackandJenfan

Well Jake did get back together with her so surely he couldn’t have thought she was that bad ?

I guess I’m in the minority. I already posted this in another thread, but I think the writers dropped the ball.
I get standing up for Abby. But I also found his response went against his own personal history. Steve wasn’t an angel when he first showed up in Salem. But aside from all that Steve understand abandonment issues and how they can lead you down a dark path. Steve’s mom put Steve and Jack into an orphanage (to protect them from their father) But Steve still had major abandonment issues with his mom. I think he was very angry with her and it was only Adrienne who was able to help Steve see why their mom did what she did. Also look at Tripp he wasn’t raised by either bio parent had issues even tried to hurt Kayla because he thought she killed Ava but he forgave him. Like I said I understand defending Abby, but if the writers were true to his history he could have also said he understands feeling abandoned and he hope that she make amends so that she can be a member of the family.

At the same time a little understanding does too. And if anyone has insight into abandonment issues and anger it would be Steve. I’m not saying he shouldn’t defend Abby of course he should. But considering his history they could have had Steve be a bit more understand of the situation.

Steve still feels guilty about all of that If someone calls him on it, he doesn't make any excuses. Gwen feels no remorse and feels justified in coming after someone who had done nothing to her. She didn't even qualify it saying she wanted to get to Jack and hurt him via Abby.

I can't imagine Steve made an ass of himself like Gwen did.

Steve took a much harder stance with Gwen than he did with Tripp,

CincyLady He held a scalpel to Kayla's neck and changed prescriptions and could have easily killed patients in his revenge against Kayla.

Apparently you missed Tripp circa 2017. He did try to kill Kayla, almost killed Hope, and poisoned a bunch of people. Steve took him out for a beer at the Brady pub, while Kayla was back at the hospital, still in shock and sporting fresh slash marks on her neck.

I do remember that - somehow Gwen struck me as more dangerous and mean. Tripp's behavior seemed to resolve itself more quickly. I've been watching soaps too long - at least this one - I can forget/overlook some of the incidents. Gwen has made a deep rut in my mind - I won't be forgetting her.
