  • John and Marlena have 10 million dollars?!?!

They didn't even have their own house on the show for the longest time.

I wondered where and how they got so wealthy.

I can answer that question. John inherited a large amount of cash from his dead wife Isabella in 1992 when she died. It was left to him in her Will. John used the money to help buy the Brady Pub for Shawn Sr Brady and then invested in starting Basic Black.

I never thought they were wealthy. Just comfortable and financially sound.

John's a part time civil servant and Marlena is a shrink working for public hospital. Doesn't sound like the 1% to me, although I'm sure they would be comfortable. Maybe John ripped off some bad guys during his ISA days and invested the money?

John and Marlena are rich. John ( thought of as an Alamain inherited ) and I believe Isabella left him money as well... He owned a company, Basic Black that was bought out by Titan.... Marlena has been a psychologist for over 40 years..

I agree he does seem like the type to live off women’s wealth and his only job is to grill the steaks and look at himself in the mirror.

John has been a multimillionaire since the early 90s. He inherited the Alamain fortune when it was revealed he was Forrest Alamain.

dee2 He was adopted by them, so I don't see why he'd lose it.

I lost track of all of John's different families, and how he related to them.
Wasn't he a Dimera for awhile or was that someone else?

John's been rich for a long long time. I remember years and years ago when Belle joked she wouldn't max out his credit card and he responded that it didn't have a max.

RickySpanish Ohh, thought I missed an episode or my mind was blurry. Yeah makes sense that it’s his daughter that he was talking too.

        He inherited all his money.

What I don't get is why doesn't Orpheus just get the passcode from John directly to get the money. No need to bring in Marlena.

For Orpheus bring Marlena into it is the fun part.

I always thought they were wealthy. I remember when I first started watching Victor and John had this rather odd half friendly half antagonistic father in law/son in law relationship. I seem to remember a conversation where Victor had a line where he said between John's company (which did what I can't recall), the share of the Kirakis fortune he inherited from Isabella and the fortune he stood to inherit as Forrest Alamain John had the potential to be quite wealthy.

            Plus Marlena...doctor.

LOL damn. I suppose it's possible. I wonder how big the fortune he inherited is.

The wealth of the characters are always dependent on the storyline. I remember a few years ago wondering why Shane couldn’t afford to send his granddaughter to college and why both his daughters acted like they had no money, when it was established years ago that he was a very wealthy man.

I always just assume the people on this show have infinite wealth unless it is stated that they don't. The Hortons probably have enough money to buy the whole town. DiMera and Kiriakis families are loaded of course. That only changes when Victor turns on someone in his family. Kate randomly goes in and out of money depending on what they want her to do. Even Ciara seems to go in and out of whether or not she has access to Victor's money. Ben is one of the few we know full well isn't loaded, an example of the show stating that he's not.

John and Marlena having that kind of money doesn't surprise me too much. John has at least two fortunes fed into his account and Marlena probably makes very good money as the only psychiatrist in town.

I get the vibe Shane wasn't giving money to Eve and Paige because Shane and Kimberly didn't get along with Eve. (something something you never loved my mother or whatever)

But I guess that doesn't explain why Theresa wasn't rich.

I guess unseen brother Andrew is the one off spending the Donovan fortune.

Well John was sort of an Alamain. They had their own country (Alamania)

Kind of funny Stefan never had access to that Alamain wealth...he probably wouldn't have needed that measly Dimera money.
