Is it important that Jake be Stefan?

There have been some that have said Jake is dating Chloe and she is coming later. I hope that is not true I want him with Gabi. He did have a look when Ben asked him if he had a woman in his life. And why is he protect Gabi. I think from the people that beat up Ben looking for Jake

If he's not Stefan, the writers have to build a whole new character and weave him into the canvas. Besides that, fans were mostly clamoring for Stefan's return, not BB's.
At the very worst he'd be Jake pretending to be Stefan in order to help Gabi with DE. Which does neither of them any credit.
Simpler all around that he be Stefan. Fans overlook implausible things, so let him be a Rolf reclamation.

I'm not really a Stefan fan, but I'd much rather see him than another doppelganger. So hopefully he's actually Stefan and not a separate person.

I hope he is just Jake. Maybe Stefan's secret identical twin. I didn't have anything against Stefan, I just like the appeal of what this new character has and hope he can bring back some of the better parts of Gabi's character that she has lost/ locked away. I'm also sooo over the coming back from the dead storyline. Either way I hope they spend some time with him as just Jake and we get to witness a real and natural bonding and love progression between two people. Not rushed. Not forced. Not built off of revenge or manipulation or lies or hate sex whatever. Just two people falling in love, healing each other and bringing out the best in each other.

Then once we are all sold hook line and sinker for Jabi they can throw in a plot twist if they want.... he really is Stefan. Or Stefan is still alive and returns to find his secret unknown identical twin with his wife. Or just leave it with "Just Jake". That's at least my hope. Looking forward to seeing how they play this out. Hoping they take the classy route and not the trashy route that has been destroying Gabi's credibility and likeability. She deserves a healthy love interest for once.

I'm fine with him sticking around...if he isn't Stefan. Stefan was a bad character. I mean he was more a poorly conceived character than an evil one.

I'm just going to enjoy Jake's story as long as possible. If he is Stefan, maybe it will take awhile to know that. If he is Jake, the more he hears
about the goings on in Salem, the funnier his reaction should be. Unless he, as Jake, has a back story to trump the one he was told today about his
lookalike.

IMO I would prefer he be Jake so we get the magical connection of BB & CB without the Stefan baggage. Also there has been far too many returns from the dead. However if he is SD, so be it!
