The point of a story is to reveal it one piece at a time, not all at once or else there'd be not point to writing fiction stories, be it books or tv or film. We don't know what the end game of this story is and won't know for weeks, or maybe even months. Right now, we just catching clues but don't have the full picture, like being on page 3 of a novel. Don't expect to get the last page details of a story while you're still on page 3. It doesn't work that way.

If Jake is really lying (a theory) we won't know why until later in the story, so to keep up the charade, he has to convince all the people that knew him as Stefan that he's not really him but this new guy called Jake. Getting Ben, Gabi and Kate and whoever else to "fill in the blanks" will help him maintain cover when he starts showing signs of being Stefan. It will be the perfect excuse as he claims he knew something because Kate told him, or Ben or Gabi and so forth.

Clue 3) Jake "remembers" being with some woman(he mentioned it in dialogue with Ben on Friday's show). Jake says, he loved her, but he's moved on. the way he said it made it seem like it was her faults/deficiencies that attracted him to her and that it was not his fault they weren't together now...this does not jive with any amnesia story. Even his description of this woman did not sound like anything Stefan would say....it almost sounded something like how Bo would describe Hope back in the early days.. Either he knows he's Stefan now and he's playing everybody or this is not Stefan...these are really the only choices that make any sense. I really like how B.B. is making this Jake character nothing at all like Stefan, his attempt at being a "different character" is brilliant. He's even added a rasp in his voice which makes him seem older.

Now somewhere in the timeline that Stefan passed(assuming Jake is Stefan) he had a relationship with someone, learned how to be a mechanic, all within a year, that's hard to swallow. I get the feeling there might be a twinge of wishful thinking associated with this theory.

Clue 4) Now we got someone who has it in for Jake. This mysterious boss(whoever he/she is), must be pretty shady to hire these thugs...they didn't seem too bright, and what was it that Jake had taken from said boss? I'll drive home the point out of the gate, that Stefan had character deficiencies, but one thing we know about Stefan,. since day one he was always in the roll of the one calling the shots, he never went rogue, he was the one hiring those to do his bidding, Stefan was never the type to boldly steel off some two-bit con and for someone to run away from the scene of a fainting woman(because he didn't want to attract attention to himself) seems like a reasonable explanation for..." hiding something", however this whole, sudden interest in Gabi, not unusual, she is quite attractive. Jake's interest in gaining knowledge of Stefan is not unusual either, if you consider the "amnesiac looking for an identity" theory I proposed the other day.

Just because he looks like Stefan, doesn't mean he is.

i think bc if he lets her in and what he's up to in a fit of anger she will tell chad that jake is stefan. i'm wondering if stefan is trying to find out whats been going on with dimera and he wants to keep his identity a secret so he can surprise chad taking dimera from him. all chad knows is jake is the town mechanic. i might be reaching at straws but it would make sense.

i think when jake told ben his ex got on his last nerve at times he wanted to just strangle her, the way he described his ex wife, persistent, head strong, etc and drop dead gorgeous that's gabi.
