Hope is a grandmother and a mother to 20ish girls???

I'm new to this forum. But I have been watching Days of Our Lives all my life because of my grandmother. Hope is older than I am (me 44). She married Bo when she was late teens/ early twenties. I have a 24 year old and a 4 year old. It's very possible to have a child and grandchild the same age. But are we really to believe that her daughter and grand-daughter are the same age and that's she under 60 if that were the case??? I know this is a soap opera, but that's almost as much of a stretch as everyone in Salem dying and coming back from the dead!

Yes, but that is usually due to the fact that men can have children for very long period of time where the window for women is much shorter. The mystery of soaps, you get rapidly aged until you reach your 20s and then you stay in your 40 for years and years. No matter how old your children and grandchildren are.

True, older men can have children, but my brother had his eldest at 18, at which time I was 4 years old. I had my youngest at age 44. Thus the 40 years between his eldest and my youngest.

Shawn was quite a bit older than Ciara but of course with a soap they play around with the ages .

I am 44 and my oldest nephew is 40. We grew up as siblings, not aunt and nephew. It happens. My sister is 61 and my mom would've been 84.

There is a 4 year age difference between me and my uncle, but my grandma was older than 50 when I was in my 20s. She was in her early 60's, so Hopes age is unbelievable, that's why the show rarely has Hope acknowledge Claire as her granddaughter. This is a soap though, and Hope's age hardly the worse oversight we as viewers have to ignore when watching the show.

Yes, it is indeed possible for Hope to have a daughter & "grand" close in age. Happens often in real life! The main problem for ME with how they've written Hope is not only did they move her on with Rafe much too fast after Bo died, they tried to rewrite them in Bo & Hope's image with many things Bo & Hope did in their youth during their romantic life together! They should've let Hope be & act her age - she could still "love" & have some tender romantic scenes, but they tried to hide her "grandmother" label in order to portray her younger than she was and she came across as a silly teenager most often!! Hope has to be in the "60" range now to have a son who's daughter is nearing 20. I just wish they'd play her more her age and let us watch Hope true to herself rather than reinventing her to suit Rafe! JMHO!

Claire was technically born in 2006, which would make her 12 if she wasn't rapidly aged.
Ciara was technically born in December 2006, which would make her 11, going on 12.
I'm not sure how old Hope was when Ciara was born, but it's believable that she was under 50, as she was a teenager in the early 80s and had Shawn-Douglas when she was still pretty young.
I wish the show would have kept the girls at the right ages. It's ridiculous that Belle, who was born in 1993 and would be 25 years old, suddenly has a 20-year-old daughter. We have to suspend disbelief often when we watch Days, but that's a bit ridiculous.

I totally agree - for longterm viewers it's ridiculous to see these characters they watched & KNOW when they were born being the ages presented now, but it's not unbelievable or so strange for someone to have a daughter & granddaughter close in age. And in Hope's situation - the way they've written her after Bo - is like they tried to start over with her and relive those early romantic years she shared with Bo into her romance with Rafe which was so fast & silly since she IS now a grandmother. I think Hope would've been more appealing, enjoyable, mature, & believable had they just let her act her age. They should've showed more of a relationship with Claire some, too, instead of appearing to hide the fact she IS a grandmother! This is just how I see it and how much I, personally, would've enjoyed watching Hope at this stage of her life - having a slower moving relationship develop (friend to love) with Rafe instead of all that forcing they did with them!
