Things must have gotten a little ugly behind the scenes for Steve to have been written out like he was.

CLOUDFARE Security Message
Over the past few days you may have received a "Checking if the site connection is secure" message when accessing the site. This is perfectly normal and not cause for alarm.
This message indicates that the server is confirming that the SSL (the "s" that you see in the https before web addresses) security is, in fact, secure. This is not some sort of advertisement and it is not some sort of nefarious hacking.
Cloudfare, which is a provide of web hosting and security, has recently added this layer of security on the Soap Central message boards platform as an added layer of security.
The message may occur any time that your browser makes a new connection to the boards. The message may also stop appearing at any time as the process is further integrated into the boards.

Days has a pattern of treating actors like this though. They seem to have a very flippant attitude about it. You want to sign? Great. You don't? Oh well. We'll move on.
I feel bad for SN. He was asked to cut a big cut in pay and eventually agreed to it only to be told no. I hope the next time Days calls for some silly arc he tells them to kiss off.
Steve and Bo. <sigh> The biggest reasons I loved Days. Now both are gone. Bo and Hope were my first soap couple. Then Steve and Kayla. Both of them are now gone too. So sad.
There is just less and less motivation for me to want to keep watching.

I don't understand this show, they're still promoting the bionic eye story in their fall preview. This ending leaves everyone in limbo until Steve returns, which may or may not happen. SN deserved so much better, the show can do a lot better than this.

When you've got a show as budget conscience as "Day's", you can't waffle when your contract expires. Changing your answer to yes to the terms of your contract after it has expired and the show has moved on is unfortunate but sealed Nicholls' fate - for now. He'll be back like a few years ago when he was off canvas. I'm just glad they didn't go for a quick resolution of the bionic eye story in regards to Kayla's involvement. Better to rip the bandage and get him off canvass since there wasn't time for a more organic departure for his character.

How does being budget conscious make okay to tell him he'll be back in 4-12 weeks. It's not better to rip the bandage off- why should a viewer get interested in another story if Days is too budget conscious to wrap up any story, if anyone can just disappear because of the budget issues what's the point. They knew things were headed south, they could have had a couple scenes mentioning espionage.

I hate to tell you but the only reason "Days Of Our Lives" exists is to make money - period. It's not about telling stories you like with your favorite characters. I'm just surprised that an older actor who's fully aware of having little storyline for over a year would play hardball with a company that even us viewers know is pinching every penny in their budget.

Now, with that said, I think that the only way Days can make money is to tell stories with characters that fans want to see, and that includes Stephen. But again, he's not the only one. Let me put it this way: I would sacrifice seeing Steve Johnson for a well-rounded, well-written show with other characters I'm invested in.

Hi Call, I couldn't agree with you more. Let's sacrifice Steve Johnson (very reluctantly and sadly if we have to). Give us some substance in his place and yes, a better written show with worth-while characters. IMO, please bring back Anna DiMera. If DAYS needs to tweak their budget, here are my suggestion on some characters I could do without: Roman, Rafe, Eli, Lani, Valerie, Eric, JJ and Eve. With that said. I think that KD is an amazing actress, but she's all wrong for "Eve".

All I can conclude is DAYS doesn't really want Stephen on the show. To me the character of Steve is probably the most interesting of all the older characters but I guess tptb don't feel the same way. If you read Stephen's tweets he seems very eager to be a part of the show, but I feel like those tweets are hurting his chances of returning because it feels like he's playing the victim, that he loves everybody and only wants to return. I hope he can come back but it feels like it's going to be a long time, since they must be filming March 2019 right now.

I feel like he's moved on, but other people keep tweeting. SN keeps his tweets positive, he only thanked Soaphub for correcting some reporting, but acknowledged how hard it is for the directors and crew to get this show on the air every day.
Some actors on the show are on social media to promote themselves and the show. The show benefits from this too. When a character is suddenly off the show, something needs to be said. He's been interacting with fans online all along. Social media comes at a cost for both the actors and the show.Last edited by Cat women; September 3, 2018, 06:33 PM.

To me SN's tweets seem like he wants to stir things up, like maybe he can get his fans to fight for him, but I think they'd do that even if SN didn't say a word about what was going on. He has a lot of fans. But the last tweet that I read from him he says that ."people in positions of power can use it to eliminate those they have petty “issues†with," and that he's never been one to keep his head down and blindly accept the status quo. Those sound like fighting words to me, but I don't see how they could do him any good. But we'll see. I definitely want Steve back on the show, I just wonder if he didn't tweet so much if it would happen sooner than later.

“I was disappointed and tried to negotiate, to no avail, and when I did agree to their deal they told my representation that the writers had already written me out, but that ‘Steve is an iconic character and we don’t want to lose Stephen. He will be back, probably in four to twelve weeks. We hope sooner rather than later.’
“So I decided to cool my heels and not make any statements. We’re coming up on 20 weeks now and no word.

Days causes their own problems. They should have been upfront, let him go and closed out his story respectively. It's not just Stephen Nichols, it's the attitude that filters into the show.Last edited by Cat women; September 3, 2018, 06:26 PM.

It's been over 4 -12 weeks since the actor stopped taping, so the character can't reappear in the time frame they gave him. Plus the taping has accelerated. He stopped filming the last day in March, his last air date was Aug 31. The show is taping well into next year--something like Febuary or March. If SN is slated to come back soon it's seems like they'd let him know. Maybe this is all a giant publicity stunt put on by the show.Last edited by Cat women; September 4, 2018, 03:12 AM.
