I don't want to see the show or any other daytime soap get cancelled. However, I just hope Days sticks around long enough to let Ben and Ciara properly play out. Cin is the best storyline on TV. Plus, hopefully the fall sees some ratings gains. August tends to be a bad month ratings wise for all soaps.

This is bad. I hope things will pick up this week, though. With the Jarlena wedding and Sami's return, more people should be tuning in.

People have stopped watching I have seen so many people stop watching all ready and who knows when they are going to start watching again no one likes what they are watching and that is why they are not watching. I just want them to stay on long enough for Chabby to get back together and raise their children together and for Gabi to get what she deserves for ruining people's lives and for me to see more Tiara I love Tripp and Ciara and I love the pictures that Victoria put up of her and Tripp on her Instagram yesterday when they were working together.

For crying out loud, Days lost the least amount of viewers of any of the four soaps for this week and they lost a lot less viewers than any of the four soaps. People are not watching because of the storylines, they are not watching because their kids are getting ready to go back to school this week and a lot of parents are spending their last few weeks of summer vacation taking the kids on a vacation or out getting the kids ready for school. The ratings drop has absolutely nothing to do with the freaking Chabby storyline or the Ben and Ciara stuff. In fact the only people I know who even have a problem with either of these storylines are the people on this board who complain about them day in and day out. Social media and message board viewers barely cover less than half of the viewers who even still watch soaps. The majority of viewers don't even go online to complain or compliment the show they just watch the show for the enjoyment of having a soap to watch. Now I know why I started recently to watch Days without going on the message boards. I am enjoying the show a lot more now that I don't come on this board daily to hear all the whining about the storylines playing out the way certain fanbases want them to. I am actually enjoying this weeks Days a whole lot right now because of the break we are getting from certain storylines and seeing fans complain that the storylines are not playing out the way they want them to. I am going to go back to watching the show without visiting this board anymore because of all the negativity on this board from certain fanbases.

Ditto! I am also eternally amazed at negative posters who critique the show based on another person's synopsis - never having actually watched the show for themselves! What I also want to know is why these "fair-weather" fans bash the show when they proclaim that they fast-forward through this or that scene. Stop critiquing the show before you sit down and watch the whole damn thing! True fans are with you through "thick and thin".

Thank you for agreeing with me. I know that I am not going to waste free time I have watching a soap opera or any show that I am not going to enjoy. If I don't enjoy watching a show from start to finish every time it is on than I stop watching it. I don't have the time or energy to fast forward stuff I don't enjoy watching just because I want to see certain actors.

              I agree and I disagree.

I think it's OK to show a little negativity about the ratings. Yes, Days was the only soap to actually gain viewers this week over last year, and that's great. But it doesn't change the fact that for the last 6 weeks we've been hovering around a .45 rating in the 18-49 demo, when we stayed pretty consistently above .55 for months from last fall to spring. Total viewers have also dropped. It was getting exciting watching total viewers climb from last July to this February as exciting stuff unfolded on the screen. Now the numbers slowly plateau or dwindle. It's a bummer because of hopes I had for the show attracting more and more viewers. The disappointment I express about ratings is because I DO watch the show faithfully and want it to succeed!

On the other hand, I strongly agree that: ratings aren't due to any one storyline, the views of people on this board or social media don't really reflect what the whole viewing audience thinks of the show, and ratings for all soaps have declined. Every single soap has seen a decline in ratings in the last year, most more dramatic than Days. I'm not sure what the solution is, but all soaps are sharing the same general misfortune right now.

I also agree that sometimes it's easier to enjoy the show if you don't come on the board. But you can overlook a lot of the negativity and still have a pretty good conversation.

The real test for the ratings will be this fall. If they can increase some then than I think the show will be in good shape.

I don't think people are connecting with stories. They have their wants as well. Nothing is wrong with it. I hope it's the case where people are getting their kids ready for school....but last year's ratings, tended to be slightly better. It has never went down to 1.40s...I am not sure of JARLENA's Wedding week as well, if it's going to pick up. People do tend to come at November Sweeps weeks and then slowly disappear.

I have high hopes that the ratings will go up for this week and next, with John and Marlena's wedding, the return of Kristen and Sami, and the latest developments with Will and Sonny. A lot of story is happening and hopefully people will start tuning back in.

That's a good idea for you to do! However, I quit watching years ago shortly after DAYS started it's nosedive to the bottom of the ratings for the first time ever AND because of how poorly they wrote for Hope when Bo left - they destroyed my fave and never brought her back! They've truly ruined her! I loved her for decades, but since I couldn't stand to watch her reinvention/change I just read about her on the boards so THAT'S MY connection to the show. I saw when the ratings plummeted and it's because of the writing!

Over recent years viewers want to blame one thing or the other for why DAYS is so low & why they wait year to year to see if they survived another round - it's not because of ONE thing - it's the overall change & writing style which viewers can't sink their teeth into anymore. One couple or character is NEVER going to do it for the show! Years ago when daytime was strong (DAYS was awesome IMO) character development & story development was what it was all about - they don't do that anymore. They just throw out these shocking stories that have no real substance and they let go of continuing drama and familiarity to the audience (and, most importantly, the longterm viewer who related to the characters - who & what they were)! They now just use & abuse characters - sacrifice them to prop others - and have lost their way.

Maybe the Ben/Ciara thing will help (gosh knows - imagine that - a serial killer now becoming the leading man but, then, look at the DiMera's in recent years - the crime family taking over as the heroes), but IMO, w/o playing out a full redemption sl for Ben. (soap or not) I just think that lacks substance too and is more lazy, cheap writing. They're making Hope the bad guy to prop a SK because they feel they've hit on an attractive couple w/chemistry! Where's the depth to this story? THAT'S what's lacking!

This is my soapbox (not "negative" - just what I see as what's happened to the show & I hate it because I LOVED this show since it first aired)! And just because DAYS "lost fewer viewers than the other soaps" doesn't really mean much! They're still on the bottom and LOST viewers! That's not exactly a comfortable position!

They need to listen to viewers (not force THEIR favorite creations & sl's) & write quality material that viewers can invest in & interesting stories to HOLD an audience (and it wouldn't hurt to try & bring some lost viewers back)! JMHO!

Well the ratings for the next week are even worse and their are two sets of record lows in the key demographics.

                          Something really isn't working.

Once again the ratings are just for live and same day viewership. As others have pointed out many fans do not have time to tune in at 1pm or whatever time Days airs. This doesn’t mean they aren’t watching the show. They can tune in whenever they get time on any device they choose.

NBC look at all the ratings when they come to a decision about renewing the show. NBC get Days at bargain prices and is a lot cheaper to produce than the other soaps. They have always said they are happy with the show’s performance. People need to chill when it comes to these ratings. They aren’t the be all and end all like they used to be. Times have changed and technology has moved on as have the way networks do business.
