Ben needs an evil twin who could be the "Real" neck tie killer. All of the evilness would have been encouraged by Clyde Weston. The Ben/Ciara story is so perfect I hate that everybody hates him....Hope killed Stefano...why doesn't everyone hate her....Abigail killed Andre and lit Ben on fire....John made Steve blind....You catch my drift....Every character has a little flaw...

You're right. First of all, Ben is too old for Ciara. He's about 29 or 30. Ben deliberately killed more that one person but three. What really got me to see his deranged mind in operation, he deliberately shot and killed the "midwife" behind the cabin then came back inside with no remorse showed on his face. He enjoyed killing which make him a serial killer. Three people he slaughter. Just imagine, the midwife probably had kids and she was at the cabin to help deliver Abby child. He is a serial killer because of the number deaths he personally orchestrated.Last edited by Collette; August 11, 2018, 09:37 AM.

I get why people hate him. I don't hate him, but I get why people do. All those other people you listed -- they aren't defined by the one bad thing they did. Ben was not around Salem for all that long before he was defined and written off as the Necktie Killer. I feel like I have to keep saying: He murdered 4 (later revised to 3) people and tried his best to kill 3 more (Abigail, Chad, and Marlena).
And honestly, part of what makes the Ben/Ciara story so perfect is that he's trying to come back from something so awful and has only her to believe in him. If it turned out he didn't do any of it... Poof, there goes a big part of the beauty of what they have. He'd just be back to boring Ben Weston before the necktie story line, a pretty face and a nice set of abs. Being a killer is what gave him depth and made him interesting.
If I had my way, I'd make it so he'd done evil stuff to a lesser degree. My favorite character of all time, Jack, was rehabilitated from a rape.

This show has done a lot of wacky stuff, but I don't think they've tried to redeem a serial killer before. Outside of Andre, which doesn't really count because it didn't work. That said, I'm buying this one. RSW is a pretty amazing actor and he sells it, at least so far. And the chemistry is off the charts and something I haven't seen on this show since Steve and Kayla first got together.

I don’t get it either with this age difference thing, she’s 21 now and as far as I can see she sure holds her own around Ben. Ciara can take control and all Ben does is just looks at her adoringly in return, I love it! They are cute. As for topic, half the drama is watching him fight his way back to some normalcy which is near impossible but RSW is pulling this off well!

I don’t see the age difference as a problem. They already have shown they can get and relate to one another. Ciara has a deeper connection with Ben than any of her peers.
Secondly, maybe Ben wasn’t remorseful at the time, but he is now. I think that is what is most important. He’s snoring a lot of remorse now. He’s also taking medication and going to therapy. My point is his working hard to try to make himself a better person. Personally I think he should be allowed a shot at redemption.

I've gone back and forth with the idea of pinning the murders on someone else like Clyde, but honestly I prefer now that they leave it alone as is. There would be nothing to redeem him for, and that's a huge part of what makes Cin so magical. The idea of a man trying to overcome his horrible past and move on with his life, with only Ciara (okay, and Marlena) believing that his efforts to change are genuine. And in time, I'm sure other Salemites will somehow come around to the idea that "Hey, maybe he's not such a bad guy after all", but that's well into the future. I would love nothing more than for him not to have been made into a killer in the first place, but it is what it is. He's on the road to redemption and recovery now, and that's what matters most.Last edited by soapjunkie1987; August 12, 2018, 01:16 PM.

Absolutely redeemable. Fans love the pairing, and most realize this is fantasy, not reality. And if you've watched soaps over a number of years, you know writers can redeem anyone. I thought he strangled two people. I see Will still ambulatory, so.......

Elle23276 He still strangled Will, even if it turned out that he survived. He was thought to be dead for 2 years. Plus there was Wendy the midwife who he shot and killed. But I agree with you. Anyone can be redeemed, and Ben is well on his way. Welcome, BTW.

Thank you soapjunkie1987. They'll still have to redeem Ben to some manner/degree. I'm not a screenwriter, but I can think of many ways that don't include daddy Clyde. A solid foundation of friendship will be built during that time between Ben and Ciara. Plus, the Tiara fans will enjoy the light romance ahead. That is almost, without exception, the standard route for a supercouple. They are always friends first.

A murderess who had no problems covering up the crime AND sending an innocent man to prison.Yeah, there's an issue there.

Doesn't every life have equal value? Hope murdered Stefano and needs to serve the remainder of her 25 year sentence. She has 24 years and 9 months to go. Nope. They made her Police Commissioner instead. And her co-conspirator is still a cop, too. Amazing. No one pays but Ben.

Thats pretty much how I feel. One of the many many things that make Cin awesome is Ben’s past. I like the complications and drama it creates. I love the idea of Ciara and Ben against the world with them trying to prove everyone they are wrong about Ben.

Definitely doesn't need an evil twin. Love that he is sweet but their is real element of danger to his character and is messed up, it makes him an anti hero type. If Days really wanted to they could make Clyde the real necktie killer by revealing he killed Paige and Serena and Clyde somehow conceived Ben to cover for him when he was hallucinating. That makes Ben a killer because he undoubtedly killed Wendy but not a serial killer.

Please God NO! Ben did what he did, let it go. It has been established why Ben snapped. An evil twin would be horribly lazy and it would undo all the work the writers and RSW have done on the character of Ben. RSW has already stated that he's happy they didn't create an evil twin. Jack is a rapist and everyone can't wait for him to come back. God forbid these characters actually be forced to live with their past mistakes. God knows Hope and Abigail would be much more compelling if they ever lived with their mistakes, or Kate, etc. As long as Ben is written the way he currently is, determined to BE better, instead of being made better by re-write, then he's fine. I watched GH's attempt at redeeming Franco backfire horribly because of rushed, OTT, idiotic explanations to downplay his actions and it I despised the character for years because of it. I am just now learning to tolerate Franco. Let everyone hate him! Him being a good guy who is despised because of his past, and falling in love with a beloved character like Ciara is classic soap opera. It's the type of story soaps were built on!

I can't possibly agree more. Though, I'm sure people will at least tolerate him in time once they see he's changed. Something has to happen that will prove it. But that's a long way off.

Yes, Ben’s horrid childhood is enough to make anyone become unhinged. This is Ben falling in love with a young woman like Ciara and fighting his way through life to be good for himself and for her that is what is making the storyline even more impactful and dramatic to watch. To see them fight all the angst, which is everyone basically is what makes this story even more interesting to watch. Ciara is basically the light of Ben’s dark life and they are doing a great job showing it onscreen!Last edited by ckg1; August 12, 2018, 12:28 PM.

Franco's rapsheet is a lot longer than Ben's too. And he polls high almost every week. Most of us can differentiate between fantasy and reality. Those that don't usually have an ulterior motive. In this case, it's named Tripp Dalton.
