    Was he mildly mentally disabled, autistic, or was it something else.

    I thought Stuart was how people should be and it was the people around him that had the problem.

    I don't think it was ever explicitly stated. From what I remember, when Stuart was first introduced on the show, he was darker. They thought he had killed someone, and he was locked an an institution. This was around the first time Adam and Erica were married. Then we got the sweet child like Stuart later.

      Never saw Stuart as having a diability. Just as the opposite of Adam. Stuart was the good twin, Adam was the bad twin. Both played brilliantly by the wonderful David Canary. RIP.

        They use to keep Stuart locked in the chandler mansion upstairs.
        I recalled sometimes when people were over you would hear noise coming from upstairs
        i cannot recall the uncle name but most times he go deal with Stuart

          I don't think it was ever explicitly stated what his condition was. But he brought out the best in almost everyone around him, I think.
