Post How to respond to out of control threads and inappropriate posts

I think most of us have noticed a few posts here and there that are in violation of various guidelines, and along with them, some disruptions and/or arguments following these posts.

Just so everyone is on the same page, as per SOC guidelines and policy, the only appropriate response to a post in violation of the site guidelines is no response at all on the board, and an RPP to the moderation team.

We appreciate the good intentions behind some of the rebuttals, but responses not only make thread disruptions bigger, all the attention gives the original disruption a reward and encourages further baiting.

Sadly, inappropriate responses to problem posts put the responder in the same boat as the original poster - meaning, if your post is also in violation of the guidelines, even though you're reacting to someone else, you could be in trouble, too.

Thanks, guys
