A note to all my fellow "Dallas" posters: When we lost Larry Hagman, we shared our thoughts and feelings with each other on this board, and I know it helped me a lot to cope with the sadness. I wish I were an artist or a singer so that I could belt out a blues or country song at the top of my lungs, or paint a "masterpiece" to memorialize Larry. I am neither, so as I am caught up in the emotion of last night's episode, I am posting a small poem that I wrote to express the sadness that many of us feel, as well as the gratitude and the hope that "the show will go on".
MY TRIBUTE TO LARRY HAGMAN AND J.R. EWING
Our beloved JR is gone now
We’ll dearly miss his presence
But in our minds we’ll always have
His spirit and his essence.
For the great, great Larry Hagman
Is immortal in our hearts
We won’t forget the joy he gave
With talent off the charts.
JR’s twinkling eyes and sly little smile
Always told us he was up to something
It could have been evil machinations
Or another extra-marital fling.
So now we have to carry on
Without the master of deceit
John Ross will assume the mantle
He learned at the master’s feet.
And Bobby will have to carry on
Without his big bad brother
Their love-hate relationship
Was special, like no other.
There’ll be no more “Hello Darlin’”
For Sue Ellen, his lovely wife
Despite the way they hurt each other
They were the love of each other’s life.
For those who want to take their shot
Because JR is gone
Remember he is watching you
From the great beyond.
So here’s to more seasons
Of “Dallas” and the Ewings
They are always entertaining
No matter what they’re doing!
Backstabbing, bribery, blackmail, betrayal
We’ll still find them all on “Dallas”
Surprises, secrets, scheming, shootings,
Murder, mayhem and malice.
So, Mr. Hagman, with thanks profound
We say a sad “Adieu”
Rest in peace, our beloved J.R.
We will never, ever forget you!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. R.I.P., Larry/J.R.
