The one in the regular series will always be Southfork to me.
The biggest problem I have with the new Southfork is that the lay out is completely wrong compared to the set we saw for 13 yrs.
Example... The kitchen should be to the right and the living room to the left as you come through the front door. Also, the pool area is on the wrong side of the house.
I just don't like it that it's all backwards.

The mini-series Southfork wasn't grand enough for our Ewings... lol

Add me to the list of those who love (and miss) the original interior sets on Dallas, the original series..... They just felt real, the sets had such personality they were like an additional character on the show!!

I prefer Southfork as it was in original Dallas series. I don't like the house at all in the new series!

Along with most others, I prefer the set from the original series.

But besides the set being different, the use of SF and its importance (or lack thereof) feels different to me. I don't know if anyone else feels this way. In the original series, SF was the center of things; it was just as important as the Ewing Oil offices, maybe more so. We saw great family interaction at home and many of the best arguments took place in the dining room over dinner or the living room over cocktails. Whether it was Bobby confronting JR, Sue Ellen and JR going at it (sometimes in their bedroom), Ellie and Jock disagreeing, or Pam and JR exchanging barbs, SF was home, including to us viewers. Now, the ranch doesn't feel as important any more, at least not to me. Everyone is scattered and we don't see family dinners or cocktail hours. I wish they would go back to the original format a little more. The physical set isn't as important as what takes place there, IMHO.

Yeah this seems to be the one thing most of us all agree on. I didn't care much for the house used when Dallas was a limited run series but that's miles ahead of the SF exterior we have now. I don't know what the chances are of the place ever revamping it but CC says she listens to&values what the fans have to say. Hopefully, sooner or later, she'll listen to us about this.

I understand how you feel Dr.Kipling. I sometimes still feel disoriented when I am watching scenes from the new series at Southfork.

I have wondered about the new interior myself. I am just assuming that at some point since the end of the orginal series, Bobby just called in Mike Holmes (the Holmes on Homes guy) and had the interior redone and updated!!

That could be a good fix for Season 3's Southfork. Good idea.
Maybe this current Southfork is sitting on some form of a sink hole?

Southfork could sink in Season 2 final?

Maybe it's just me, but I like this version of SF. I've watched the original series, and I think that whole design worked for that era, but the new ranch has that contemporary feel that really fits with the rest of the show.

^^^ You make a good point, BlackRose... it does "fit" the show... it's just that the rooms should be layed out the same.
The only thing that needed to be changed was the decor (to "fit" the show)... they didn't need to relocate rooms. JMO though.

Idk. My house has gone through many changes, remodels, and room relocations over the last 10 years, so I can only imagine what 20 has done to SF.
