i started watching from the begining again and now i get it,why jr was the way he was, because gary was mommys fav and bobby was daddys fav, poor little jr had no one ,thats why he always hated gary and sometimes bobby,it wasnt jrs fault he was the way he was it was his parents fault.lol boy now im sounding like todays world everyone doing wrong and blaming there parents.lol
^^ Ewing_1.... No, I'm sure no one deleted it. If a thread ends up at the bottom of the page and hasn't been posted in in a certain amount of time... It falls off the board, automatically deleted. It's a way to keep the board trimmed.
LOL - it's hard to picture JR as "poor little JR"! As Miss Ellie once said to him, "Junior, you were born old!"
But seriously, I think you're right. I remember watching a scene where Miss Ellie was telling Donna the family background, and how Bobby was Jock's favorite and Gary was her favorite, leaving JR out in the cold. Even Donna seemed to sympathize a little with JR! It explains why JR was so ruthlessly competitive - everything he did was to gain his father's approval - and why he was devastated to the point of not functioning at all when Jock passed away. JR was really a very interesting character, IMO!
yeah but thats like in the show they always mentioned bobby being jocks fav and i didnt see it that way, usally he would take jrs side and to me, it just didnt make sense.like in the show before jr got shot and bobbys yelling i cant do it,you asked me to look over ewing oil and i cant deal with 2 jrs.but the good thing about jr was he did care about his family
JR's witty but sly offensive comments at the dinner table were so memorable .. always had to say something! to put somebody down!
lol am sure you will all remember some of them![]()
i loved it when jr was telling everyone where to sit at the table and he told donna here you can sit in pams place,i never liked her either.lol. And when he would refer to ray as a half breed, like he was cattle.lolwhen he would call callie a hillbilly.does anyone remember the swan song when jr was hanging out with digger,i watched that the other night,it was funny.
he actually said it to Michelle Stevens about Pams chair - because Michelle was going to sit on miss ellie's chair and JR stopped her and said no you cant sit there, thats mama's chair
sit here.... that was Pams chair, didnt like her either
something like that lol
season 1 the barbecue show 5 its alittle before pam falls out of the loft.jr and digger are both drunk and jr says so you dont like the marriage between bobby and pam ,well this is the first time ive ever agreed with a barnes.then he blows my mind later by saying sorry to pam,the secret to getting along with jr is to get him drunk.
That was quite an episode!!! You really got a picture of what the Ewings were like - Jock clashing with Digger, both men stubborn as mules, Miss Ellie trying to make peace between them, Pam dying of embarrassment while her daddy sang and danced, drunk as a skunk, Sue Ellen hitting the bottle and bemoaning how neglected she was by JR, and the jealousy of both JR and Sue Ellen over Pam's pregnancy and the prospect of Bobby and Pam giving Jock a grandchild before they did.
I think the final scene of that episode really showed what JR was all about. When Sue Ellen asked if he had pushed Pam, causing her to lose the baby, he said, "I did not." (That was true.) But when she asked, "Are you sorry she lost the baby?" JR did not answer, but the look on his face spoke volumes.
That was a classic episode, IMO.
after pam left i always wanted them to put suellen and bobby together, remember when she was drying out in the hospital and he went to see her and she told him,i feel in love with the wrong brother, and i think it might have pissed jr off too, does anyone remember when jr married callie and he asked her how far along in the pregnancy was and she said any luck at all maybe 10 mins.
and i loved jrs laugh.........................
