Hey Ewing_1, I'm from Michigan. 38yrs old, male. I am married and am going to school to be a Baptist preacher. My wife and I have a 3 yr old Cocker/Springer Spaniel mix..
I love Dallas, GH and one from across the pond... Coronation Street. I've gotta say CS is thee best soap I've ever watched. It's my favorite show on TV. Do you like it, Eastenders or Emmerdale? I'm thinking of starting to watch Emmerdale...
    That's my story!

I live in Cedar Hill, TX, which is a suburb of Dallas (I've lived here for 13 years). I was six when the original miniseries was filmed and living in San Antonio (my Army dad was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston) and I still remember that winter (yes, that snow was real in the first episode - we actually had a White Christmas here in Dallas this year and look at what happened the week of the Super Bowl a couple of years ago). Dallas was the only show I was allowed to stay up past my bedtime and watch when I was younger and I still remember crying like a baby when Swan Song originally aired. I also remember when I was about 7 and we had a babysitter one Friday night and she told us that she had to watch "The Dukes of Hazard" because it was her favorite show - I (as the oldest) told her that was fine as long as the TV stayed on for "Dallas" right after it.

I think it's so cool that "Dallas" has such loyal fans all over the world and all over the USA. I'm from New York City and I'm older than I care to admit - lol (Never ask a lady her age - lol). I'm a huge baseball fan and my team is the NY Yankees. I'm very much looking forward to the World Baseball Classic, which will be in March - just 2 months from now. Ewing 1, I know that Great Britain is participating - will you be watching?

argghh my first reply didn't work!! I was saying that baseball isn't that big here so I doubt I will be watching it

however I have been to New York in 94 and been to see the Yankees at the stadium - I stayed in the Bronx! Lol
but found the basketball more entertaining

its all football/soccer here - also check out the pic thread!!

Oh, too bad you won't be watching the WBC. I know that it's mostly soccer in Europe, but baseball is expanding its audience and becoming more global. I thought that since GB is participating this year in the WBC that you might give it a try.

So you stayed in the Bronx - my old stomping grounds - lol! 1994 was the year of the big baseball strike that almost destroyed the sport. The season ended at the beginning of August. It was the first time there was no World Series. It was a shame because the Yankees were great that year and probably would have been in it.

I did check out the pic thread - it's terrific! Thank you so much for taking the time to post those wonderful shots.

Ewing 1, I meant to answer your post before. I can't believe, out of all the places in NYC and, specifically, the Bronx, you stayed on De Kalb Avenue near Mosholu Parkway and Jerome Ave.! My family moved to that area when I was 12 and I went to the Mosholu Pkwy. Junior High School! It really is a very small world!!!!

Just addition knowledge about me... I love Coronation Street and Downton Abbey (both shows from across the pond). CS is probably the best acted and written show I've ever watched.

I totally agree with you July, it was a great idea. It's fun to get to know each other.
I was quite happy to know that Ewing_1 is from the UK, even though he/she doesn't like Coronation Street. Un-British if you ask me... LOL

I know - it's crazy!!! I lived right on Reservoir Oval - our apartment faced the park!!! The park near Jerome Ave. is Van Cortlandt - it's the 4th largest park in NYC.

I just started watching Downton Abbey - I think I'm hooked! I missed the first 2 seasons, so I'll probably watch them on Netflix. That is a great series!

my family watch Corrie all the time, i prefer Eastenders...it used to be better years ago but its still great when they have a good storyline

another good storyline from years ago dude was...the serial killer on the street! he killed about 3 residents and was a real charmer

and i take it you have seen the tram crash?

    ...

and another bit of useless information about me and my crazy visits to the USA in 94,95 and 96

    no bullsh!t now...

i arrived at JFK new york on the same day OJ simpson was having that Car chase and the World Cup was on...i know because i was detained for a while as i did not have my uncles address and had to wait till he came forward and proved he was a resident - so i was in some room sat with a few fat security guards/cops watching tv and the OJ simpson chase was on and i was only 16 and they were telling me all about him and then they were switching to watch the world cup when the news of OJ took a break! then finally i was released lol

then the year after i went back to New york in April and sadly during my time there, the Oklahoma bomb went off

the year after that me and my whole family went this time and we left the same day as TWA flight 800!

i have not been back since

but then ...sadly once again when 9/11 happened so many of my family were on vacation in florida! and canada and it ruined there vacation!

wonder what will happen if i visit again!

I'm a huge fan of Katherine Kelly as Becky... I never got a chance to watch before then. I backed up to the Tram Crash and I'm watching on-line. Loving it.
Becky is by far my favorite character on Corrie.
I've tried to watch Eastenders, but I couldn't get into it. Same with Emmerdale and Doctors.

phil and his brother grant - were great characters and were portrayed as the infamous Kray brothers by the writers

I am from Sweden. Aged 29. Student.
Watched re-runs of Dallas in the 90s, as I was obviously too young (not even born yet) when it originally aired. My mom watched the original run, so I knew of Dallas from a very early age.

Was a fan of The bold and the beautiful for many years, stopped bothering when Susan Flannery left a few months ago. Now, it's all about Dallas and Revenge. Primetime soaps.
