Rick Hearst (Alan Michael)
Terrell Anthony (Rusty Shayne)
James Goodwin (Johnny Bauer)
Leonard Stabb (original Hart)
I could take forever to write down favorites so I will just go off the top of my head alphabetically and I know I will miss some but here goes: Grant Alexander, Charita Bauer, Robert Bogue, Beth Chamberlin, Joan Collins, Justin deas, Marj Dusay, Michelle Forbes, Maureen Garrett, Rick Hearst, Allison Janney, Melina Kenakaredes, Maeve Kinkaid, Beverly McKinsey, Robert Newman, Tom Pelphrey, Ron Raines, Peter Somon, Gina Togoni, Jerry Verdorn, Cynthia Watros, Michael Zaslow, Kim Zimer.
Without a doubt Tom Pelphrey as Jonathan Randall was my favorite actor! The story of Tammy and him was one of the best love stories ever written on a soap, imo. Stephanie Gatschet was my favorite actress. I loved the way these two made Jonathan and Tammy's love story so real, and it wouldn't have worked with any other actor and actress in the roles. Just the way they looked at each other sucked a viewer in.
I watched GL nonstop for years, starting at the time when Mindy/Phillip/Beth/Rick were teens. I watched all those years and still the love story of Jonathan and Tammy, which only spanned the end of 2004 to the beginning of 2007, was my favorite and what I remember most. I wish they would release a compilation of their love story on DVD. I want to see it all again.
I got into GL because of Robert Newman & Kim Zimmer!! I still LOVE them!! But I also have come to love Justin Deas, Tina Sloan, Elizabeth Keifer, Jerry verDorn, numerous others etc... I was very excited when Crystal Chappell came aboard as I had always loved her on DOOL as Carly, then OLTL as Maggie. Anyway, if I have to limit my top three faves from GL it would be KZ, RN, & CC!!!!
But I really loved almost everyone. It wasnt my first or favorite soap, but I fell in love with it and watched it to the end...cried during every episode in the final 2 weeks, happy sad, bc the chracters and the actors that portrayed them truly touched my heart
I'd have to put Jonathan on the top of that list, I loved him and his whole sl with Reva and Tammy, it was the best ever, Philip, the 1st Allen Michael he then showed up on B & B, I liked Philip & Harley, but then again I really loved GL, watched it for many many years and was very saddened to see it go. I remember my mom watching it when I was a little girl and that is a very long time ago. Never should have been cancelled. IMHO
Michael Zaslow was amazing...Roger Thorpe was one of the most complex characters ever on daytime, on of the few soap 'villain' characters that never became a cartoon.....
I think the only 'mis-step' they ever took with the character was the way they handled his death...and brought on the 'long-lost' son Sebastian Hulce...although the scene where Roger's ashes were thrown from the balcony outside Towers Restaurant and some of it got in Alan's eye near an open window at Spaulding was BRILLIANT.....
Actresses: Beverlee McKinsey, Gina Tognoni, Kim Zimmer, Beth Ehlers, Beth Chamberlain (one of the most underrated in all of daytime), Crystal Chappell, Fiona Hutchinson, Tina Sloan, Maeve Kinkade and of course Maureen Garrett
Actors: Ron Raines, Roger Zaslow, Robert Newman (also ridiculously underrated in all of daytime), Jordan Clarke, Ricky-Paul Goldin, Rick Hearst, Grant Alexsander, Justin Deas, Vincent Irizarry, Jerry VerDorn, Michael O' Leary
there's just so many...we were/are truly blessed to have such a wealth of talent in Springfield
