How would you write 'The Death Of J.R. Ewing'??

The writers have a major, major task before them for season 2....properly handling the death of J.R. Ewing, following the real-life death of Larry Hagman.....

What storyline would you create to give J.R. a proper send-off in keeping with the history of the show, continuity of the character, and fitting for such a legendary character?

How would you kill off J.R. Ewing?

kathrine wentworth kills him,and john ross is looking for her to make her pay,i think they should have it where they get ewing oil up and running and they should have it where jr was the one who got it going for the family, as jr would say ewings have the oil running threw there vains.

Maybe play it how season's 3 & 7 ended, with everyone mad at JR... Someone entering the Ewing offices and shooting JR. This time, he dies. A take off of 'Who Shot JR?' and when Bobby got shot in JR's office.

I wouldn't mind the 'Who shot and finally KILLED J.R.' scenario, but that would be a real stretch to make it believable without Larry Hagman to film the shoot scene....

The one thing they MIGHT be able to do is pull some cut/unused footage that features Hagman and doctor it up to fit a scenario......

I think a "Who Shot JR?" scenario would be a great tribute to the original series, but I'd like it with a twist similar to "Murder on the Orient Express". Since there are so many people with motives, including grown children of wronged business associates/lovers, a group of them get together - they have been planning his demise since hearing he got out of the nursing home - and each one shoots him once. We wouldn't have to see him. The police would go crazy trying to figure out who did it with so many suspects and so many bullet wounds. It doesn't have to be solved at the end of the season. It can be a thread that's woven into the plot of the entire series, for as long as it lasts, with all the Ewings - John Ross, Bobby, Christopher, Sue Ellen, Gary, Ray and Lucy - no matter what else they are involved in and what disputes they have among themselves for control of SF, Ewing Energies Ewing Oil, etc., working together for this one cause - to find the murderer(s) and bring them to justice. In this way, JR would remain one of the central figures throughout the series, even thought he's not physically present. In the last episode of the final season, the murderers can be revealed. I think this is how I would write it if I had the opportunity.

Another possible scenario would be to have Vicente Cano, who threatened revenge as he was being hauled off in handcuffs in season 1, give the order from prison to kill JR.

At first... I just wanted to see JR die of a heart attack (well not actually "see")... thus the entire episode revolving around JR's funeral and several guest stars.

Now... I think a "Who Killed JR Ewing?" storyline... would bring drama and intrigue.

    However... final thoughts...
I think the writers had their season two planned out and won't go with "Who Killed JR Ewing?"... I still think an eventual "Who Shot John Ross?" is in store for us... if not Season 2 finale... then Season 3 finale.
