well what can i say, we are all mourning the loss of a great actor who was a treasure to us all and he has left us with a lot of memories which are great

just thought i would ask people to name there favourite memories of JR

i have so many ...but one that came to mind was when he tells Cliff ''tommorow morning the janitors gonna come and take you our with the trash, unless you do the honorouble thing, get in the elevator, go to the roof and jump off!''

he had such a way with words especially when had one over the person he was telling, in this case it was cliff!

I can't pick one or two(or a couple dozen even)favorite J.R. memories. That character was larger than life!! After 35 years J.R. still managed to amaze, astonish,&tickle the heck out of me.
    J.R.(and Larry)was one of a kind.

OMG, there are so many! One that has always stood out in my mind was when, from the pool, into which Donna had pushed him during a Ewing BBQ, J.R., soaking wet from head to toe, chuckled and yelled after her as she walked away, "Now, Donna, don't go away mad!" That was typical J.R. Ewing.

Dr.Kipling, I second this! Larry Hagman's portrayal of J.R. Ewing brings back so many memories. I remember watching episodes when he is battling either Bobby, Sue Ellen, or Cliff Barnes and forgetting once the filming was complete, it was a different story. It will be very hard watching the second season knowing Larry is no longer with us. I am very happy he was part of the relaunch of Dallas this summer. Larry Hagman will be missed!

Oh Viki&Charlie you're so right about the second season being hard to watch without Larry/J.R. In so many ways Larry IS Dallas. The show just won't be the same without him.
    Thanks Viki&Charlie.

ICAM. I was a bit sceptical about them doing the new Dallas; it was such an iconic show and often trying to bring something like that back is a mistake. But I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think what made it work was the fact that some of the original cast was included, mixed in with the new generation. The casting for the younger generation is really good, esp JR's son. I just can't even imagine JR not being on. I've loved hearing about the personal relationships and friendships some of his costars had with him and the high esteem in which they held him - esp Linda Gray (who I love) and Patrick Duffy.

As someone who's watched every episode a couple of times, there are so many memories.. However, my favorite is probably when JR says "OH Barnes, you just get dumber and dumber everyday". Love it.

Hagman said that line with all the glee of a little girl at her first ballet recital.

    Classic JR. Classic Hagman.

that was one of my favs too.jr always had the best lines to tell cliff, one of mine was when cliff was in the hospital from overdose and suellen said god jr look what we have done,or on the gag real when everyone shot jr and then he drank a glass of water and the water comes out all the holes in him.and when he'd call callie a little hillbillie.and when bobby said and being married to that one,I dont worry about you cheating your to tired after her.[callie] and jr said thats not funny bob.

That was a great moment, wasn't it victor?

I also like the scene after Sue Ellens car accident with Mickey and JR sat at her bedside and opened his heart to her when she was sleeping. It was so very touching.

I loved the end of season 2 when Sue Ellen was unconscious after escaping from the sanitarium and getting into a car accident, seven months pregnant with John Ross. JR and Bobby were at her bedside and JR said, "She's so beautiful. Even now. She's got to live, Bobby. She's just got to." He was genuinely remorseful. It was a very moving scene and it showed another side to JR that we hadn't really seen up to that point. Well done!

Oh yes, that was a wonderful scene as well. LH was soooo good at being bad and loving every minute of it... But, he could do sympathetic too. Even after all the junk JR did to people... You could still feel bad for him.

    LH was a unique actor.

another class jr moment was when they were sat at the table outside at southfork and lucy asks pamela how digger is and pam says 'he is very sick, thanks for asking'

JR = ''Sick, you mean drunk!!''

In a similar vein, the end of Swan Song when JR begs Bobby not to leave him. And when JR holds John Ross for the first time after he finds out that he is his son.

And I also like the scene in The Search when JR, Bobby and Ray are reminiscing about their hunting trips as kids with Jock while on the way to South America. It was one of the few times JR spoke about having good memories of all his brothers - quite a contrast to the way he acted after Bobby's funeral when he told Gary and Ray he didn't have a brother anymore, although that was MOSTLY the grief talking.

swan song was an amazing episode and everybody would have cried and JR showed his emotions for his brother
after always putting ewing oil first, he came to realise that family is everything

Oh, I agree - these were all outstanding scenes! I cried like a baby at the end of "Swan Song". I felt as though I were losing my brother. What well-acted and well-written scenes those were!

Yes, exactly. He certainly was unique. And that is so true - even after all the crooked stuff he pulled, you could still feel bad for him. That was part of Sue Ellen's problem - every time she was ready to leave, something happened that made JR vulnerable and even she felt badly for him (such as when he was shot).

it's good to see Larry Hagman being remembered for his role as JR Ewing isn't just being remembered for the times he was downright horrible and is being remembered for the good sides of his character

i also remember in the last episode conundrum he showed a lot of emotion for bobby
but not for Gary or Ray!

who can remember the scene from the oil barons ball - when he had that fight with cliff after cliff was named oil man of the year and gave a speech about how Jock stole Ewing oil from Digger
and how Jr and bobby as well were ready for war!

and how JR started that fight was just comical, and then whinging to sue ellen later at home that cliff had bit him

oh larry you are legendary and can always make me smile

i wish i was an actor now

JR as fans filled us with a lifetime of memories he made Friday nights must see TV.The one scene I remember the most was after Westar took over Ewing Oil.As Jeremy Wendall went to take down Jock's picture.JR told him he would kill him where he stood. He then took the picture down and proceeded to tell John Ross that this was Ewing Oil not the building or the oil fields. It gave you a real prospective into the character about how important his father was.
I also remember when Lucy announced she was getting married to Mitch and the family had been drinking champagne and Jock told JR he would need something stronger then that!!!
