DEVELOPING STORY: Larry Hagman, known as J.R. Ewing on Dallas, has died.

I saw this posted on the SOC facebook page. I didn't see an SOC article with it but I wanted to pass this on as soon as I saw it.

I just saw that he had passed on twitter from Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis GH) It's super sad to hear this. I love I Dream of Jeanie and Dallas! Dallas will not be the same without JR. I hope they give him an amazing tribute during the second season of Dallas as lets face it the original would not have been the same without him!

I am so sad about this. I really hope we get an awesome tribute for him. Cancer has just been stealing all the amazing actors from us.

I can't imagine an episode without Larry, he's been in every episode of Dallas ever produced. It will certainly be a sad day when his last epi airs.

Vixens.. LH should be on at least part of the second season, if not all of it. But it will not be the same without him. Cidre better do a good job with JR's exit.

Wow. Larry/J.R. not only paved the way for primetime dramas, but also influenced the daytime dramas in a way that will never happen again.

The world has lost a great one. L.H. can now swap stores with Jim Davis and BBG in heaven.

SouthFork now has a huge hole that can never be filled.

    God Bless Larry Hagman.

This is sad news indeed. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Larry as JR is the perfect example of an actor that was taylor made for that role.

    R I P, Larry. God Bless.

Such a special talent has been lost with LH's passing. I pray God's perfect will for his circle . If WE miss him like we do, it goes without saying that his friends and family are heartbroken.

What will Dallas do without him???????.............................

One of television's greatest actors and television villains has been lost. I loved Mr. Hagman as the evil but sometimes lovable J.R. Ewing. This is SO sad. I knew he'd had cancer years ago but I had no idea he had it again. RIP Larry Hagman!

i just read that patrick duffy and linda gray was at his side when he passed. they were truly close. i have read stories about how devoted he was to his wife, maj, i'm not sure whether of not she's still alive, but i know she was battling alzheimers. he will be truly missed and dallas will not be the same without his dynamic presence. j.r. ewing was one of the best iconic characters that ever appeared on the small screen. thank you mr. hagman for doing that character justice. R.I.P.

This is sad news but given the fact that Larry Hagman was 81 years old he lived a good life. He also got a chance in his final days to reprise one of his greatest roles, as JR Ewing in the new version of Dallas on TNT. He made this character iconic, JR was the character you loved to hate but Larry actually gave him a human side as well. Somehow the new Dallas won't be the same without him.

He had filmed six episodes of the 15 for season two and an article at the Hollywood Reporter website said that the producers are scrambling to figure out how to deal with his death. Within the last few weeks, he has been seen out and about in Dallas so it appears he had a sudden downturn in his health. At the Dallas Morning News website, there is a picture of him at a hotel on Nov 7th and someone posted a comment on one of the local news websites (I live in Dallas) saying that he was in his usual suite at Cowboys Stadium a few weeks ago and was looking fairly well.

    Article about Larry Hagman

Speaking of the Dallas Morning News, there is an article at their website about Larry's cultural impact. The last line of the article is a nice summation of JR Ewing.

Throughout Friday night and into Saturday morning, those who knew Hagman sent their deepest regrets and warmest regards. Said Linda Gray, his on-screen wife betrayed more often than Caesar, Hagman “was the Pied Piper of life and brought joy to everyone he knew.” Or met. Or entertained. Never was ever a villain more beloved.

So sad. I knew Larry Hagman was sick, but it's still sad none the less. I will certainly miss him season 2 Dallas. When i was a kid i loved him i dream of Jeannie & i loved the old Dallas. JR was huge part of why i even watched the the old & new Dallas. I'm sure the other actors will truly miss him, great actor one of a kind. I don't think they can replace JR,

I am sadden for the news on Larry. I can remember when he was a young police actor on The Edge of night. I fell in love with him then and when Jeanie came out loved him for that. AS JR, he left a memory that the world knows and loves. God Bless his family and all of the many friends and fans that are mourning his passing. JR Ewing is probably who set the trend for men on our Soaps, Like Victor Newman, ETC. I loved him.
