it was when jock had the open heart surgrey and pam asked bobby if those guys jr was dealing with were there to see how jock was and bobby said those guys wouldnt even go to there own mothers funeral unless they thought the grave digger was going to strike oil.this being in the early season i would have thought ewing 1 would have got it ,i cant seem to stump you on them.

You're half right. It was Miss Ellie, but it was to Cliff Barnes, Vaughn Leland, and the members of the cartel. It was the episode when Ellie had to sell back all of the oil JR stockpiled from Clayton Farlow to get him to kick Sue Ellen off of the Southern Cross. Cliff and Vaughn led members of the cartel to buy up JR's promissary notes to the bank, which had JR not paid them off in time, they would all get Ewing Oil's assets. But Ellie did say something to that effect to Rebecca in the 6th season when she threatened to destroy the Ewings.

Ah, I was thinking it was the scene with Rebecca and Ellie outside, after Cliff's suicide attempt. I'm remembering it better now. In that scene she said "Others have went up against the Ewings and lost" or something to that effect.
