What,if anything, from original Dallas would you like 2 see incorporated on new Dallas

Some of what I'd like to see:
The full theme song used with character photos
I'd love to see Ewing family breakfast/dinner scenes
    Ewing cocktail hour
More folksy scenes. Some of my fondest/most favorite memories of Dallas were the simple scenes(Miss Ellie&Jock sitting outdoors having a cool drink. The family out at the pool.Miss Ellie&one of her DILs going into town for a day of shopping)I'd like to see more of those kind of scenes on new Dallas next season.
Someone getting thrown into the Ewing pool for pete's sake!
Ewing Oil(I suspect, given the talk of Ewing we've heard this season,we'll finally see EO in season 2)

So those are some things I'd like to see/hope to see. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'd like the folksy scenes for sure. Intro, I think this is all we will get. though more would of course be nice. But I would definitely like stronger music and more of the background themes from the original. They should also improve continuity by bringing in some major fan of the show as a writer. It might be nice if they could manage to at least find someone who worked on the original show awhile to come on as some kind of consultant. And of course I am looking forward to see what tonight has in store.

Cliff why do you think this is all we're going to get in the way of the intro?

"They should also improve continuity by bringing in some major fan of the show as a writer"

^^^^^^^^^^^^^This sounds like a wonderful idea to me. You've been on set if memory serves yes?
IA with you that it would be a fantastic idea if tptb hired someone with close ties to original Dallas as a creative consultant. It's a shame, imo, that David Jacobs isn't involved in some way with the new series.

Well, I guess what I meant about the intro was, of course, that in today's day and age most shows have none! And some have them very very short-I think we are lucky by todays standards to be getting as much as we are. Some have suggested trying to fit the faces of the actors in anyway during this speed intro, just to do it real fast, but it seems to me like it would be too rushed and crammed in if they keep it this length. So of course I would love a longer one, but it seems like the trend today is to have little to no openings at all.

Yes of course I think there are some great fans out there who are also writers. Many people from the show might be available, the original, but I do understand a great deal are either dead or retired.

Yes I was on the pilot, ha ha, it seems so long ago now. Seeing myself on tv in an episode of Dallas that premiere night was pretty cool indeed.

Point taken about the intro. I wasn't clear what you were saying in original post but I understand completely now. I'm hoping Dallas will buck the trend of the short intros&give us a full feldged opening next year.
I imagine it was quite the treat seeing yourself on the Dallas premiere. I'd probably still be on cloud nine over that one lol.

Tonight they showed "Ewing 6" on Christopher's license plate. I was hoping for that, too! Yay!!! I know what you mean about thinking of them as family - same here! I want to see the breakfast and dinner scenes, too, and cocktails before dinner, with the bickering and big reveals. And Cliff throwing darts at Jock's picture - lol! I can picture him doing that!!!

I remember in Particular that JR got Jocks picture down off the wall. I want it brought out and the house done up more of the origional style. I know everyone runs for breakfast, but at least have more than a snack bar and not even a meal table !

Good point about the intros! I've noticed that they are getting shorter and shorter on most prime time shows. I guess the networks don't want us changing the channel while waiting for the show to start. Still, I would LOVE to have the full original theme song back in all its glory, even if it's w/o photos.

I'd like to see J.R. make some oil deals with some "good ole boys", old-style. I would love for Pam to come back. Her return would cause so much disruption for everyone - it would be soapy heaven! I'd like everyone to sit down in the dining room every night at 7:00 (I think that was the time) for dinner together, and let the bickering begin!

The annual Oil Barren's Ball and the annual Ewing Barbecue - need to happen every season.

I also want to see a few brawls and cat-fights in the Southfork swimming pool.
I know Dynasty was more known for the ladies duking it out... while Dallas was known for the guys brawling... but I eventually want to see a catfight between Rebecca and Elena in that pool.

Oh, I want to see Sly and Dora Mae (was that her name? Anyway, the attractive African-American hostess who always sat JR at his favorite watering hole).

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I'd love to see all of these things on this Dallas. Dallas isn't Dallas without the Ewings dressed to the nines&attending the Oil Barren's Ball, tons of BBQ&bourbon,&a knock down drag out fight culminating in a dip in the SF pool lol.
Seeing Sly&Dora Mae again would make me so happy.

EW1NG_1, it was early in the second season (or first full season if you don't count the miniseries as a full season)

    I'd like more Lucy.
For Southfork to have the same layout as the original.
    Ewing Oil or some variation.
The opening to be revamped to be like the original, the first 11 yrs... Not when they changed it.

I want to see Ewing Oil rise from the ashes! Also, some fun fight next to the pool so they can fall in. That always works!

And I wouldn't mind seeing Ray Krebbs and his kids on their own ranch.

And more Cliff of course. Cliff & Afton as parents.

Those are my choices as well. I hated that they did not do much with Ewing Oil in this.

will we ever see the cast appear at the beginning of the show, when the theme is playing
that was iconic of the original dallas and i would love to see it one day being used on the new show

but maybe it would be too cheesy for this day an age!!
but Dallas is different - it aint no sunset beach or anything

--------------Great thread, DrIvan!! So many good ideas-I think everyone's mentioned anything I would want to see. Regarding the opening theme, I am greatful there still is one, as Cliff Barnes mentioned, some shows don't even have opening credits anymore. ......However I was still hoping for characters to be edited into the opening sequence. It just feels sort of lonely to hear that great theme and not see the Ewings!! Though the remote scenes are pretty....I wanted to see people in the credits!! ............. I also wish there were Ewing meals together. I guess with grown up kids and not living home-this make it more diffucult to do that-but John Ross, Christopher and Elena do stop by Southfork quite a bit-so they could do the breakfast scenes-imo........ cocktail hour would be highly entertaining as well, (as it always was on original Dallas) I am sure. Again-fun thread, my friend.
