Falcon Crest - Saddest Character Death

Over the years Falcon Crest saw several characters come and go...which was, for you, the saddest death of a character on Falcon Crest?

1. Jacqueline Perrault (Chase's mother) - Shot and killed by Julia Channing Cumson
2. Douglas Channing (Richard, Julia, and Emma's father) - Heart Attack
3. Chase Gioberti - Believed to have drowned in the San Francisco Bay
4. Maggie Gioberti Channing - Drowned in her own swimming pool
5. Terri Ranson (Maggie's sister) - Died in the Tuscany Valley earthquake
6. Michael Ranson (Chase's cousin, married Maggie's sister) - Died in a plane crash
7. Phillip Erickson (Angela's lawyer in the early seasons) - Died in a plane crash
8. Melissa Agretti - Burned to death when the main house at Falcon Crest caught fire
9. Lorraine Prescott - Richard's former step-daughter who gets involved with Lance and falls from a fire escape, later dying from her injuries

The saddest for me were Maggie,Melissa,Jacqueline,&Chase. I was devestated when Melissa died in that fire. I really liked Melissa. Shame she was let go(or did AA quit?). Samantha never quite cut it for me though I did like her attempt at gaslighting Angela. I was sorry to see RF&LT leave the show. Even though I knew Lana signed for a few guest appearances I'd always hope Jaqueline would be made a semi regular on the show. When Susan Sullivan's Maggie was killed off a HUGE part of Falcon Crest died along with her.Imo the show was never quite the same.

By the start of the final season most of the original cast was gone.....Cole, Chase, Victoria, Maggie, Julia...that left Angela, Lance, and Emma from the first season...and Richard from seasons 2 forward......and the introduction of Michael Sharpe was too little too late, for me...I liked the character, but.....Falcon Crest had become so overrun with 'newbies' that it was just not the same any longer....

Same went for Dallas at the end....there was J.R., Bobby, and Cliff in the final season...Clayton and Miss Ellie were off-screen...Sue Ellen and Pam were gone...Ray, Jenna, Donna....everyone had departed and it was a flood of newbies........

I was really amazed when Maggie was killed off...true, her credit was as a guest star in the first episode of the final season....and that was pretty much a sign that she was leaving for good.....it was just sad to me to see her depart....

I really hated Melissa's death, too...after she found out she was the owner of Falcon Crest.....Melissa was manipulative and underhanded, certainly, but I always sympathized with her for some reason....

There were a LOT of deaths on this show! The saddest being Maggie's and Melissa's. Others that were sad were Michael Ranson, Linda Gioberti, Dwayne Cooley, Terry Ranson Channing, Lorraine Prescott, Chris Agretti and even though she was a complete villain, the death of Erin Jones when she and Meredith were gunned down was really disturbing to me. I wasn't too sad by Chase because by that time he was pretty much a complete jerk.

I was happy to see Chase leave so I was ok with his exit.

The saddest one for me was my favorite character - Maggie.

Maggie's death was shocking at the time, I hadn't read any spoilers yet, thanks to the lack of the internet not being invented yet. Susan Sullivan was a huge loss, she was a major character from the beginning. Falcon Crest suffered from too many makeovers from season to season, but that one hurt the most.

Melissa being killed off was just plain stupid. Ana Alica was brilliant. The show and her career never recovered.

I agree with the thought that killing Melissa off was a huge mistake....she really could have brought a lot more to the show.....once she found that deed giving her family (and her) ownership of Falcon Crest......that would have provided an entire season worth of drama to have her running Falcon Crest and Angela doing anything she could to get it back...

The first episode that I ever watched of Falcon Crest was the one where Richard fakes his death. Which was the cliffhanger season finale for season 7 (1988). So, unfortunately, I haven't seen all of the show. I did watch what I could, when they had the early episodes on AOL's In2TV. I plan on buying the DVDs of the first two seasons, eventually, when I have the money to do so.

I hated it when Melissa was killed off she was a great complex character. But the show really went down hill when Maggie was killed off, I know SS wanted to leave the show but they could of wrote her out some other way. For example wanting to get away from Richard and his manipulations, she packs up the kids ad leaves town. This left the door open for her to return at a later time if the actress decided to return even just for a few episodes to end the show. The thing was the final season of FC didn't look like FC Maggie was dead, Angela was hardly on because JW was having serious health problems, and newbies seem to be taking over the show.
