I really like it so far!! I'm not even huge on musicals but I really enjoyed the first episode; it was something fresh and engaging. Plus there are such great actors on it. And Katharine McPhee is a pretty good actress too. I hope it stays interesting.

IA with both of you. I don't very often get into new shows, but there was so much hype around this one, and I do like Debra Messing, that I decided to watch the first episode; have the second one taped to watch. I also don't care for musicals too much, but there isn't TOO much of it in this show from what I could see - and these two girls have power house voices - and it's interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes to get a show going. I will continue to give it a try.

I don't know how many episodes have aired so far but I'm watching one right now and it looks good. Jury is still out but I like what I see so far.

I liked it a lot. Think it has potential to really draw me in. Has a gritty "real" feel to it.

I tried to watch it but couldn't get in to it. I did read that AMC's Thorstan Kaye has been cast in a recurring role.

I watched the first epi but didn't have enough interest to stay up for the second. Ten o'clock is too late for me unless I really love the show.

Still enjoying it. I think it will improve with time. Characters are interesting although a bit stereotypical, especially the "bucolic" midwest scenes. In any case, the show has good atmosphere.

The first episode drew me in. It's a unique concept for a tv show, it has a powerhouse cast and the song and dance element already has a proven following on tv (glee, american idol, dwts etc...)
I did find a couple of the following episodes a bit slower but a new show takes time to build and find it's footing. The most recent episode was was really good now that we're seeing Ivy lose confidence and Karen gain some (as well as allies) and watching the show (Marilyn) come together in rehearsals is pretty exciting stuff.

Admittedly, I only gave it a chance because of TK. I normally do not watch Primetime TV. But I am actually enjoying it so far. I mean, some of it is a bit predictable, like the little turd of an assistant to Tom and what will happen with Julia and Mike. But I like it. Now after 3/12/12 . . . I'm sure I will LOVE it. LOL!!

I've stayed with it from the beginning and, being a big fan of musicals, find it quite entertaining. I love the musical scenes better than anything else. Looking forward to seeing more of T.K., even though I know I will have to endure watching him in the same scenes as Angelica Houston...not a fan.

Many People don't like the Idea of Thorsten with Angelica. They should wait and see them Together and then Decide if They don't like them Together. One Poster on Another Board thought that He Liked Them Together even though he thought he wouldn't. Another Poster said WOW ! That Chemistry Between Angelica and Thorsten was Amazing or Incredible. I can't Remember what word he used even though he didn't want them to be Together. I think it was This Poster that said that Eileen was Too Stuffy for Nick. Well, Everybody should think of Thorsten and Eileen Herlie who was Myrtle. Angelica is Still Not as Great as Eileen Herlie was. Zach read This Poem that was about Myrtle at Myrtle's Funeral. Thorsten WROTE That Poem and Read It at Eileen Herlie's Funeral in Real Life. Thorsten Adored and Respected Eileen Herlie and I don't think It was just Because Zach was Supposed to Like Myrtle Fargate. Jody

Well, I am someone who was very worried about TK being paired with AH. I adore her, but wasn't so sure I wanted to see him in a "couger" storyline. However, after seeing them together last week I honestly saw some sparks!! She just looks at him with this SIGH and he is just so damn sweet to her and really wanted to help her out of her problem . . . and he did . . . only he was a tad to late. LOL!!

And, the more I think about it . . . TK working with someone like AH could only do wonderful things for his career!!

I loved tonight's episode. Derek's new and modern concept was amazing and I hope they go back and work it in or change the tone of "Marilyn" because as much as I wanted to like the original music, I just didn't. I found it too tame. This new high energy concept has an edge. I have a feeling that's where the storyline is going. The entire feel of the musical is going to change or it may even become an entirely different show - that's what workshops are about after all, experimentation and change. The New and Modern Broadway is filled with the Rock Opera...the music of Abba in Mamma Mia, Rock of Ages is all about the rock and roll scene. The Wedding Singer is filled with songs of the 80's. Greenday's American Idiot was on Broadway and even Spiderman has music written by U2!
Derek is a cutting edge director and he seems bored with the soft image of "Marilyn, the Musical" and he wants to make it the rock opera by One Republic. I know that's one show I buy a ticket to see!

^^^Well, I don't drink martini's, but I would drink one of Nicks. LOL!!

Actually, the show is growing on me. Sometimes it just takes time to really get into a show, but now I really look forward to watching.

As of right now Nick's part is not that big and I SO wish we could see more of him, but I'm thinking its going to get bigger.

Karen and Ivy drunk singing and dancing in the streets was a fun twist and much needed to alleviate the tension between the two.

^^^ the drunk singing was good. Redeemed the whole Ivy/Karen story which I haven't liked very much. Too obvious and simple. Do love the artistic camera work and New York City setting. Atmosphere is great. Music often good. Dialogue and plot need work. But I still watch every week.

I mostly like the show. I wish Katherine was unattached because I would rather watch a love story. I'm not liking her beau much.

The affair storyline between Julia and Michael seemed to end too abruptly, to me. Michael was popping up around Julia constantly, forcing himself on her almost, and then suddenly, he's not even interested anymore? It seemed too quick a turn-around.

The show is really getting good. People who I liked in the beginning I'm not crazy about now and people that I didn't like . . . I do now.

    But I've ALWAYS loved Tom.

Trying to figure out who my favorite characater is and I think I'm gonna have to go with NICK!! HA!!

Anyway, I guess its looking like he may be a bit shady so I'm looking forward to see how his role plays out. And I really do see chemistry with TK and AH!!

Oh Yay! I was wondering when we'd find out about renewal. I really like the show but still feel like they need to tweak some things and flesh out some of the characters better and I agree with the poster who wants to see Karen as a single woman. The storyline with her boyfriend doesn't seem to work with the flow of the show.

IA that some things still need to be tweaked; have not enjoyed the last couple of weeks quite as much as previously, but still staying with it.

Love Debra Messing. Did not like the sl with the boyfriend; just didn't fit.

Fascinated to see Thorsten Kaye in this role after loving him on AMC. The one character who I would love to see gone is creepy Ellis.

Was actually quite surprised to see the show had been renewed already given how little time they give to new shows finding their niche these days, and how quick they are to cancel. Even though I like the show, I thought renewal was a bit premature; and still unclear what kind of longevity this kind of story has - once they get the Marilyn show up and running.

I haven't seen ALL of last night's show yet, just the TK clips, but I will watch tonight.

But one thing I was say I like . . . as of right now the characters all seem pretty cookie cutter and we have figured them out already. Well, except maybe Derek . . . my feelings on him change from week to week. Right now I'm liking him.

But Nick seems to be a man of mystery. He is the only character we can't really say for sure what he is about. Right now we can see that he is shady, but we have no idea just how shady. And I can't figure out if his feelings for Eileen or genuine or if he is playing her. I hope to God he isn't playing her because she seems to be the heroine of the show who has already been hurt a lot. I'd like for Nick to really care for her. I'm really liking the pairing and I liked how vulnerable Eileen was with Nick last night, she knows he is shady, yet she is still drawn to him.

Love the addition of Uma Thurman to the show!

Love KM's voice! Really impressed with her performances.

I finally got to see this week's episode last night. And let me tell you . . . Megan Hilty freakin' blew me away with that last number she did. She is beyond fantastic.

IMHO the show is getting better. Some complain that its a little to soapy, but I guess that is why I like it . . . I like soaps!! LOL!!

And TK's character has me even more confused. When he brought Eileen to his apartment I couldn't believe how nice it was. He has got to have money, somehow. And the fact that he can e so cocky with such influential people also makes me wonder . . . who is Nick?? He is still the only character on the show that has mystery to him.

^^^ I agree the show is getting better and Megan Hilty totally rocks. Loved the whole Indian number last week. I saved it on the dvr to play again. I basically like TK's character maybe more out of Zack nostalgia but have to admit at the art gallery scene he was all offhand cocky just like Zach. I actually didn't like that. He needs to be his own character. I think he's supposed to be a moneyed bar owner with working class roots or something like that.

I wish we'd find out, once and for all, just who Nick is??!! LOL!! But I guess its a good thing. Nick is literally the only character that people can't figure out.

Anyone seen this week's episode? What do you think about the Director (whose name escapes me - Derek?) hooking up with the Uma Thurman character? Poor Ivy - but I do think she's putting too much stock in his off hand comment "that's why I love you" ... the way women tend to do sometimes. She should never have gotten involved with him in the first place IMO.

Have to say don't like the Uma Thurman character, although the direction things have gone in over the past few weeks have made it quite interesting. When the show first started, although I liked it, I couldn't figure out they could keep a show going on that premise alone.

It didn't surprise me a bit, given he's tried with both Karen and Ivy. It's not love. He just wants his leading ladies to be under his thumb.

So from this week's episode it seems that the Uma Thurman character w/b gone - I understood why they wanted a big name, but she was not a good fit and obviously sees this herself. So seems like the big question now is who becomes Marilyn; I wonder if they will make the decision on the finale show, next week; or will that be a cliff hanger!!
