    Alcatraz (on Fox)

So, who watched the 2-hour premiere of Alcatraz? I thought it was pretty good. I'll be watching next week.

I loved it! Jurassic park meets LOST! LOL! The ending shocked me when the lady FBI'er - whats her name? Haven't memorized it yet - showed up back in time!! Didn't see that coming! I recorded it, will do a re-watch before I post more thoughts as it's easy to miss stuff first time around.

^^^Her name is Lucy and yes I'll be watching too. Anything from the mind of J.J. Abrams has me hooked. Nice to see he brought an alumnai from the series "Lost"

Ohhh... I loved it. I just visited Alcatraz over the holidays too.

So... it must be something paranormal cause Jack was back in a cell. There was just a loud noise.

Really good! I was shocked too when the Dr. in the final 1960 scene ended up being the same woman in present day. I wonder if Sam Neill's character knows she's from the past?

    LOOOOOOVE JORGE GARCIA!!!!

^^^hi Penelope. Guess this will tide me over really well until the Walking Dead starts up next month.

I am liking this one too. And yeah, the FBI agent should recognize his partner as someone who was one of the 63(?) employees who vanished. They have their pictures up. Maybe it wasn't up cause I would think the two others would have seen it. (I have seriously got to get the characters names down, lol)

    They got me on Mondays!

Hey newattitude--Jack looked a lot like TSJ!!!

    I watched it

I thought it was very good and interesting. I will be watching it again. I like some of the stars in. So far two thumbs up. I'm curious to find out what happened to the prisoners and why they never aged.

Now, I'm confused on him still - I was figuring he was the mastermind of the whole thing and had to know but now I'm not sure he knows anything! Lol! What are the chances an FBi'er could have the wool pulled over his eyes?

Padfoot, this feels just like old times!!

Call me crazy but I kinda feel sorry for the criminals when we see the 1960's alcatraz scenes.

I wonder what happened to Jorge's character when he was 11. And did the culprit go to alcatraz? Is that why he's so obessessed with the place?

I have a weird feeling the dr at the end is somehow going to bring that guy back to life.....

I was there at Alcatraz over the holidays, and except for the citadel area (which was closed due to harsh conditions -- D block was then made), the modern day prisoners had a rather safe life there. They fed them well and they lived in single prisoner cells.

Maybe I was being fed positive stuff though.

Sooo, I can't wait to see tonight's episode, although I read it concerns a child killer.

I am thinking that Dr. Diego has a personal connection there.
    ___

Just watched and this was a creepy episode. But we got some backstory on Dr. Diego and the doctor from the prison is at the new prison now. I guess the employees don't know what the heck is going on either.

LOL, fans of this series are taking the tour on Alcatraz and heading off on their own to find the batcave.
The NPS had to put up new signs saying that not everything on the show exists on the island.

That corridor where the little girl found Jack exists though. And for some reason it is closed off, but you can see down it.
    Can't wait for Monday's show.

I think they filmed the first episode on the island and on SF streets. Now they are in Vancouver, BC. (When the guy was getting beat up in the rec yard though, that really looked like the original place, but the building was supposed to look new, not all decayed like it is today. Maybe they could have edited though...)

My husband thinks there are more prisoners than the three in the new secret prison--like Emerson has been doing this for a while. Rebecca's grandfather has been roaming around, so maybe this could be true.

Well it seems to me Sam Neil's character has to know what is going on or have a suspicion because the secret new Alcatraz had to take a while to build right? And is it underground? They get there through the woods right?

What was dancing Dr. so happy about? What was he going to do? Bring the guy back to life or something? What??!!!

I wonder what happened to Jorge's character when he was 11?

Loved that little boy tossing his shoe at the light bulb and escaping!!!

I think the Warden played by Jonny Coyne has a lot to do with this mystery and from last night's episode, I gather Sam Neil's character doesn't know what the keys are about!!

^^^I think there is one more key for that door that the warden threw that guy into, right? So Jack was told to find a key and last night's character was also picked to find one. I wonder why those two were picked.

Was that like a portal or something? I liked the show last night, but it made me think more than usual.

And I really don't think they used prisoners to serve dinner either, LOL.

Just watched this past Mondays episode, I thought it was weaker than the other ones Alcatraz escapee wise. The other escapee stories made sense, I didn't quite understand this weeks bank robber guy's story. Why did he want the stuff in the bank boxes?

So, two keys out of three are found right off the bat, what happens and how long until the third key is found?

'Ok, so now we know Lucy's character was going to extract bad memories from the Alcatraz bunch. Nice huh? I still want to know how she didn't age and how Hauser (Neill) isn't aware of who she is, or is he?

So we learned some stuff but still tons of questions!

BTW, Johnny Coyne was an awesome pick for the Warden!!

You know out of all the episodes so far, this one made me think too much. It was okay though.

I think Hauser and Lucy knew each other back in 63. So he knows about her, but she doesn't know how or why everyone on the island vanished that night. (right??)

Jack said at some point to another prisoner that something big was going to happen on the island...

That bank robber guy only had that tin can from his childhood home. Maybe he was looking for something his mother had in a bank box somewhere. Or he is just a freak.

I thought I read somewhere that some of the characters are based on the real life prisoners. not sure if its the criminals themselves or their bad deeds that landed them there.

Damn, this show has got the coolest opening titles ever....

"On March 21, 1963, Alcatraz officially closed. All the prisoners were transferred off the island. Only that's not what happened. Not at all."

We got to see all those other employees for the first time I think, and it is interesting that Jack's brother and nephew must be sworn to secrecy (I assume Hauser left them alive, lol) since they saw Jack.

It was sad that the guard got to see his daughter and grandkids, but was not going to ever be able to talk to them. How come??? I guess it is better to leave them to their happy lives. The guard was sent back to find Tommy. I don't think Tommy had a mission. He got back on his own.

Hey, Ray knows about his brother coming back and Hauser is leaving him alone cause Tommy is an important one. The blood collection stuff or something???

Oh yeah, so Hauser has been doing this for at least 16 years??? He asked Ray to join him way back when. Hmmm.....

Good episode ONLYOLTL and you're right about the guard not being able to see his family, but how would he explain the age difference? I'm wondering about the blood tranfusions too and wondering if cryogenics is playing a part in the "lost" years............no pun intended

I also noticed we didn't see him put in the newly built secret Alcatraz. I was wondering if they have to put the people back in the same roles they were in back in 1963 so did the guard go back to being a ''guard'' or did he get put in a cell? I wonder if it messes the timeline up somehow if they don't go back to their original places.

^^^I have soooo many questions that I can't keep track of them. lol

I was wondering about the guard as well and whether he would be a guard again. And are those guards in the new Alcatraz old guards or new ones?? Cause Hauser has been doing this for 16 years....

I had the impression they were new guards, but I also found it funny before they even had any inmates back that they were walking the floors of an empty prison!

Rays part in this shocked me! Didn't see that one coming! new twist!

Penelope, I never thought of cryogenics. now, these prisoners that come back seem to ''know'' what they are supposed to do when they come back but they don't know where they have been. If they were woken up wouldn't they know where they were? Or were they programmed somehow while frozen IF cryogenics is involved. Gah! more questions!
