Oak Island is off the coast of Nova Scotia, and reached by a bridge from land. It has a long history of pirate visitations from the 1700's. The brothers own half the island
and have been fascinated by the "treasure hunts" there in which many people have died. There is a plaque dedicated to those who have died in the attempt to find treasure.
The brothers originally read about it in Reader's Digest magasine when they were young. The younger brother is a wealthy contractor and has invested a lot of money into finding the "treasure".
The team includes some elderly old prospectors, one of whom lives on Oak Island. This is the fourth season and I hope they find something. So far they have only found coins
and a once a tree stump that did not belong in the swamp.

The 3 of us; have watched it since Day 1. We enjoy it. There is lots of weird stuff that is there; but should not be there. There is no explanation for it there. Coins found from the 1700's. I can go on and on. You can google it; youtube it; wiki it. Many people have invested time; money; peoples lives into this island.

So far no joy in the findings department. I just cannot imagine they would go for a fourth season of backhoes in the mud and divers in the great hole, if they did not have some idea of a big find.
The evidence of " Templar" stuff is not enough. Fingers crossed.

^^^mb--right. The last episode where the elder brother comes in the war room and tells the boys that a former elder prospector had passed away, was rather false in tone. It looked as if the show had fallen victim to the "reality show" need for emotional editing. I am still sticking with the show, but in fast forward. I want RESULTS!

Looks like the team may have found remnants of a purposely sunken ship in that swamp. They have to have the wood , analysed by an expert. In those days they used wooden dowels or plugs that would have been
rotted away. Metal nails were too expensive.

Correct. This wood was 18 feet long, with no nails. It was carbon dated 1678 to 1700's not sure of the exact dates. Not recent is the just. The rumor is a pirate ship was scuttled in the swamp before a swamp was there. This wood piece was rumor to be part of this ship.

Thank you Oak Island for finally giving us something to watch next week in the two hour finale. After four seasons, a few coins, backhoes and drillers, and tons of wet wood bits, we may get to actually see something!

Crikey, Oak Island is on the same time as the Oscars! Since the Oscars have lost some of their cachet over time, I may just watch Oak Island and tape the other. I hear it is going to be political anyway!

I thought this last episode was the season finale, but they had a bit on the end of a show next week . Anyway, the "payoff" about metal brackets of a treasure chest and a British army gold plated button as well as a ship's nail from a 16 century Spanish ship, were enough for a fifth season go-ahead of the show.

If they don't go ahead with season 5; I will be shocked. All of what they found this year. It amazes me that they can not penetrate through a metal box that was made 500 years ago.
