I'm going to say this and then duck for cover- Rafe and Carrie might just work out. She's more than making her case (get it, she's a lawyer? Ba-da-bum!) that she's a great match for Rafe.

It says volumes about Safe that the time that Rafe most fondly remembers is when they were in the safe house together. Those were the good old days when he would lock Sami in the bathroom and watch sports on the couch while she pounded on the door. I'm not saying that Sami wasn't a handful. I'm saying that Rafe never did, nor ever will, have any idea how to relate to her.

He's better when paired with a woman who doesn't challenge him to keep his sanity, but challenges him to actually grow. And, he hasn't grown in the unprecedented 3.5 years that he's been linked with Sami, only Sami, and no one else. (I challenge you to find any other on-screen character on DAYS that has been with the same person for the last three years. Even Bo and Hope broke up for a few months!)

Yet, after only a few weeks with Carrie, he has a very appealing sense of humility that's been missing from his character. He admitted his faults in arguments, saying that he just makes Sami think that everything is her mistake.

He opened up about problems with Will, which made me realize that Rafe hasn't had a true friend on the show before Carrie. He's always taken it upon himself to save the people closest to him -- Sami, Arianna, Dario, etc. Carrie doesn't need saving. Well, not until Sami opens her mouth, but I digress.

Carrie doesn't really need Rafe, nor does he necessarily need her. But there's no denying that the two are better when they're together. So, I'd like to see where they can go.
