Greg Vaugh- Thanks, but No Thanks

Rate this Entry
Greg Vaughn is officially on my "not cool" list for this story.

Paraphrasing: DAYS called up Vaughn and asked him to come in a test for a role that paid X and did Y. (We don't know the specs of the deal.) Vaughn said, “No way” and alluded to his youknowwhat not stinking. After, he tweeted again to back-peddle and throw some too-little-too-late praise the DAYS way.

Riiiight…

I don’t doubt that DAYS undersold the guy. Soaps aren’t really crawling in money these days. And, I’m not saying that he isn’t entitled to speak out and have his own opinion. But having the right to do something doesn’t always make it right.

The tweet seemed mean-spirited. It doesn’t help out Vaughn fans. It’s not an announcement of when they can see him again. And, it’s not dispelling a rumor. No one came to him and asked him why he’s not on DAYS.

Additionally, no matter how well-intentioned, there’s no way for an unemployed actor to publicly say, “The deal wasn't on the same level as what I felt I was worth” and not sound arrogant.

Furthermore, when Twitter can be used as such an amazing marketing tool to instantly connect with massive amounts of people, celebrities should be a bit more careful with it. Vaughn (quite unintentionally, I’m sure) offended this DAYS fan by telling me that my soap can’t make it worth his time.

Cue Cee Lo and Gwyneth Paltrow , “I guess the change in my pocket wasn’t enough. I’m like…”
