Emmy Hits! Part 1

I had the best date every to this year's Emmys. Yep, my co-writer Tony and I cleared our oh-so-very busy schedules and sat down to watch the Emmy's together. It's all the fun, yet none of the uncomfortable heels. Win-win. Speaking of wins, here's who we thought (in our humble opinions) the real winners were on Emmy night!
BEST DRESSED MALE
Laurisa (on Days): Jay Kenneth Johnson Not that he could ever really look bad, but my beloved Jay showed everyone why nice boys from the Midwest should never be overlooked. Can we still use the word “dashing”? As in Cary Grant/Clark Gable “dashing”? Because that’s what I’m going with for Jay. He was perfectly coiffed and tailored without looking stuffed or over polished.
Laurisa (in general): Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer, GH) Nothing pleases me more than fashion improvement. And, Anthony jumped leaps and bounds since last year when he wore (what I still believe was) a pleather suit- finished with a coat of Rainx, should he get caught in a rain storm. This year, Tony looked fabulous- just how I like my soap legends!
Tony (on Days): Peter Reckell. He personified a tall, dark, and handsome leading man in his classic suit. He may not have won the Emmy (boo!), but he gets my vote for best dressed Salemite!
Tony (in general): Lawrence Saint-Victor. In a year when dressing down seemed to be the fad, he was the perfect example of how a young star should dress. Lawrence’s suit was simple and his colorful accents worked. And, despite the heat, he even managed to keep his tie on. Bravo, Lawrence, you’re a class act!
Bested Dressed Female
Laurisa (on Days): Kristian Alfonso- Maybe it's because I think that the on-screen styling makes Hope look like she needs to eat a cheeseburger. Maybe it's because Hope's current superiority complex is grating on my last nerve. But when I saw Kristian in this stop-and-stare blue color, all those bad feelings I had evaporated into thin air. Add in the fact that she said “spritz” in her red carpet interview, and we can be friends again. Yeah!
Laurisa (in general): Susan Haskell (Marty Saybrooke, OLTL) Something about her hippy trippy meets couture was all sorts of good. Her subtle hair and make up was the perfect compliment to this busy dress. The whole look was perfectly sun kissed, and looked great with her much deserved Emmy.
Tony (on Days): Suzanne Rogers. She looked as classy as ever! In a year where short skirts/dresses were everywhere (and, in a lot of cases, they probably shouldn’t have been), Suzanne shined in her knee-length, teal skirt-suit. A+, Suzanne!
Tony (in general): Lori Loughlin (Debbie Wilson, 90210). I never thought I’d pick someone in a peach-ish colored dress as “Best Dressed,” but “Aunt Becky” looked radiant. She pulled off old-school Hollywood glam perfectly. Hopefully she taught a lot of up and coming starlets a lesson on how to dress appropriately for an award show. Good job, Lori!
