Posted 11-04-2009 at 02:26 AM by DanJKroll

Halloween may have just ended, but that doesn't mean that we have to put away our imagination until next October.

To coincide with our special giveaway and free downloads of Speakboo's release of General Hospital stars reading their favorite children's stories, I started thinking about my favorite books as a child.

Then it took on a soap angle: what if someone wrote a fairy tale using popular soap opera characters.

So, I am asking for your thoughts on what...

In the Bubble with Dan J Kroll: Are celebrities fair game?

Posted 11-02-2009 at 07:48 PM by DanJKroll

They say that when you become a celebrity you give up your right to privacy. Whether that’s true or not – or should be true – is very much up for debate.

Television is flooded with entertainment programs that probe the lives of celebrities, telling you where and what they eat, who they’re sleeping with, and what crimes they’re believed to have committed. There’s even more Internet web sites devoted to the same types of stories.

The rise of the Internet and the...

In the Bubble with Dan J Kroll: The Best and Worst of Recasts

Posted 08-16-2009 at 05:38 PM by DanJKroll

I started watching soaps...

In the Bubble with Dan J Kroll: The most important character in your soap's history

Posted 08-08-2009 at 01:59 PM by DanJKroll

Every soap opera has its "big star" performer. You know, the star that everyone instantly recognizes from the show -- even non-soap fans. For All My Children, it's Erica Kane. Days of our Lives would probably be Marlena Evans. General Hospital would have to be either Luke or Laura Spencer. One Life to Live's pick would more than likely be Viki Buchanan and her many personalities. Passions had the pint-sized doll, Timmy. The Young and the Restless has Victor Newman.

But does having...

In the Bubble with Dan J Kroll: Making just one little change

Posted 08-02-2009 at 07:58 PM by DanJKroll

There isn't a soap fan alive that hasn't at least once wanted show executives to change something about their favorite show. Maybe you wish that two characters never got married… or that a role wasn't recast… or that a particular character wasn't on your television screen every episode… or that a storyline would just end already… or that the opening credits would finally be updated.

It's a natural sentiment. When you care about something, you always want it to be the best that it...
