In this blog, I like to whine about the stories and offer my fabulous alternatives.
It is my belief that OLTL is a dying soap. It need not be.
It is my belief that universal human needs and desires made soaps popular, and that these needs and desires remain.
It is my belief that, although soaps are, indeed, a business, that business sense goes only so far and the heart must make the ruling decisions. (I offer as my proof of this Talk Radio. People support many passions that do not make good business sense.)
Soap Viewers don't really want families torn apart. They do not want devils to return as zombies. They want friends.

Parsley's Trail (to stupid stories)

Why do they think we are stupid?
Okay, I am supposed to believe that Llanview, with its international airport and nearly ivy-league university, is such a small town that La Boulaie and the Riveras live in the same voting precinct? And that the Napa cottage has been recreated to look like the Brennan's PA vineyard, (even though Mitch was in a coma then and had no clue what the place would have looked like? I guess he restored it after stealing family photos?)
No! What this means is that they are desperate to recycle not only plots but also sets. And—get real—those voting machines were from the 1900's and they recycled those too!
There are only three reasons for bringing back Roscoe Born as Mitch and none of them have anything to do with giving the viewers an engaging story.
1. He must charm at least one of TPTB.
2. They must have used a focus group that was clueless about OLTL history.
3. After mishandling Andrea Evans return the previous summer, TPTB have decided that letting former stars take the blame for a drop in ratings will let them claim "We did the best we could!"
Seriously.

If Langston really cared about Markko, she would stop acting like a brat in front of his parents.
