I'm probably gonna get roasted for this opinion, but hey, what can I say, I Love Tiger. I've watched him play since he was a kid, admired him as an athlete.

I am extremely disappointed in all the trash talk out there, I'm very sorry to see this young couple dragged through all this.

I still believe it is a private matter between a man and his wife. If Tiger has sexual addiction problems, he needs some help. If Elin wants to stand by him - Great. If not, I can understand her feelings and refusal to live with infidelity.

My husband summed it up the other day (he is a HUGE fan of Tiger Woods). He said "tiger needs to understand that people are going to laugh and make fun, but in the end they still love the guy, it will pass".

Tiger is no different from any other celeb. Most of them cheat. Even everyday people cheat, so I don't see the hoopla over what Tiger did. Did he commit a crime? No. Is he like any other men who make mistakes? Hell, yeah!

I believe that health care is a right not a privilege and every person (citizen or not) deserves to be treated equally while in this country.

I am loving this post. I am a Democrat and I can't stand when people spew hatred of lies, and racism. I am all for universal healthcare. I work in the nursing field where I see people everyday that can't afford universal healthcare. It's a real sad deal. I am sad Ted Kennedy died before President Obama passes healthcare.

Well, it's too bad that both sides cannot reach common ground. I guess we will always have a big divide, and how will the division help moving forward?

Currently, some of the people, in the Republican Party, are acting deranged. I'm referring to the ones showing up at town hall meetings with guns. That instills fear in others, and why would someone trust a party that favors fear mongering? The issues are swept under the rug while people focus on the negative distractions. It got the party no where during the 8 years in office. It got them no where during the presidential campaign. When will they ever learn?

It was good chatting with you, Soapjedi. Cheers to you as well.

well I do completely agree with you bipartisanship is very important because i do not believe either side is 100 percent correct and there could be good ideas from both and I think coming together is in all of ours best interest. Having said that when it comes to the government option I do not think conservatives can compromise because it goes again the spirit and the ideology of the them to allow the government takeover. But something does need to be done and I think tort reform and state laws allowing competition can solve alot of the problems but I do not think that governemnt can improve the situation themeselves. Either way though there needs to be a civilized debate and it does not to be rushed through and the American people need to be listened to.

I do love John Stewart, he provides a much needed laugh at times.

    cheers

It's more of a democracy when both parties come together.

What happened to McCain reaching across the isle?

I'm aware that the majority in the house and senate are Dems, but as I have said before, it's less one sided when both parties are a part of the process.

BTW, check this out. It's pretty entertaining:

BTW, Betsy M. lost her job with a medical supplier after her appearance on Jon Stewart.

well I dont want to argue about who is lying about what because we will probably disagree but my whole point is the Republicans have no power right now whether they are lying or not. There is no need for bipartisanship because the dems own everything but they still cannot get it done because they are turning on themselves

Actually, it's the Republicans that are spreading lies about death panels, and a whole slew of other things. Check the link, within the post, above yours. It will give you a list of all the lies Conservative Groups have been spreading.

The majority of the people in favor of health care reform are Democrats. Most people that buy the lies are the ones glued to networks like Fox News, which is a Right Wing based network. They are not into reporting facts. They prefer slander. Then again, what does one expect from a tabloid news station?

I just wanted to add that Social Security (SS) & Medicare are run by the gov't. Take away SS and Medicare, and you will see how most people react, including the very Republicans benefiting from this program, very Socialist program.

well I just dont think the Republicans want to be a part of a socialist, Marxist government take over of our health care system. But in the end it doesnt matter because the republicans have no power. The democrats own both houses and the white house, so why cant they get this done? Because the bloom is off the rose and the public is no longer buying the lies Obama and his media tell. The Republicans have no power to stop the liberals but the people still do

Thank you, Chris. The intent is for everyone to participate regardless of consensus.

SS and Medicare are gov't run programs, and seniors aren't complaining. As a matter of fact, one of the questions, at town hall meetings, was posed by seniors asking if they would lose their medicare benefits if there is a public option. Take away Medicare, and you will see how happy those seniors are.

No disrespect but I have more insight to what government run health care will be like having been employed with the Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Services for several years. That to date is our current model of government run health care providing all Native Americans with free health care. I would like anyone who supports government run health care to research the medical facilities, doctors, services provided to our Native people on the reservations. Having experienced it many times myself suffice it to say the government has done a very poor job of running health care on even this small level so I have a hard time believing they can handle it on a much larger scale to our American people. Honestly if anyone could see how the government has run the health care system to on our reservations and to it's Indian people they would be as terrified of government interference in health care as I am. I have facts, personal experiences and data to back this up.

I would like to share more info on some of the the groups that are making sure that we don't have health care reform. The Republicans don't want health care reform. They don't even want to have any debates whatsoever. They are calculating in that they have organized groups to go in an interrupt town hall meetings that are held by democrats. According to the Plum Line, a Washington Post company publication, here are some quotes giving instructions to those people that are meant to cause disruptions at the town hall meetings:

The goal is not to find a solution to the health care crisis
The goal is not compromise, and ANY bill coming out this year would be a failure for us
    Here is another quote:

We have an opportunity to realistically kill Obama's agenda.
The above quotes came from a group known as "The Tea Party Patriots." It sounds like a right wing group, doesn't it? They are even boasting about blowing up town hall events. I guess blowing up means shouting and drowning out the speaker's voice so no one will hear anything constructive.

Now, seriously, isn't this the normal behavior of the GOPs? They spin things; disrupt any type of dialog, and then say whatever the Dems are doing is not working. Do you see how calculating they are? It's pathetic, isn't it?

The health insurance companies are the mastermind with the help of conservative groups. Here is more proof:

Chris, Obama was not purporting to copy Canada's form of health care. The president specifically said that people who already have insurance through their jobs will get to keep their insurance. The idea is to make health care more competitive. Private insurance companies would be forced to insure people with preexisting conditions, and they would stop with the bogus excuses for not covering individuals for going out of network.

All the GOPs do is complain. When they were in office, what did they do to reform health care? All they offered was a health care savings account. Don’t people need money to put in those savings account? The idea is to extend affordable health care to people who otherwise cannot afford it. Not everyone can afford COBRA if they lose their jobs.

Other crazy stories with health insurance companies: If someone is in an accident and does not call to pre-approve a charge, that person will not be covered. At what point should the victim pre-approve? When the victim is unconscious, or when the victim regains consciousness? I have had to write tons of letters to my health insurance company explaining why they should cover my bill; that is when I go out of network. If one doesn’t have health coverage, and that person has a pre-existing condition such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, certain type of cancers, that person will not get coverage. It’s really nutty.

In addition, seniors are qualified for Medicare, which is run by the gov’t. When people work and have taxes deducted, they contribute to the system. Social Security (SS) and Medicare are taxes everyone pays. When one reaches retirement age, he/she is qualified for SS & Medicare. I mentioned this because some people ignore the fact that Medicare is run by the gov’t.

I would agree that the government needs to step in and govern the insurance companies and even visit the ridiculous price of health care but government run health care is a very scary prospect when you read of horror stories from Canada of people factually going days without treatment for broken bones or illnesses.
  20. lakotachris's Avatar
I would recommend adequate research and further knowledge regarding Canada's current health care reform. One of the oft misconstrued theories is that universal health care provides coverage for everyone which is actually not accurate. The fact is that the government gets to DECIDE for you when you get health care, who should get certain treatmens AND you may have to wait for far to long to receive treatment. I have done a great deal of research and while I am fully aware of the problems with health care, government run health care has factually made most of the citizens of those countires unhappy with the government interference, poor quality of health care provided and doctors of far less superior quality.
