I don't get soapnet so I watched on you tube this AM - did they go from Robin laying on a gurney and Dr Ford's juggler spurting out blood right to the next day? No "death scene" or check up for Robin?

Thanks-
Am I the only one who thinks that's ridiculous? I mean I didn't like the character, but the actor could have been shown a little more respect than his last scene being him standing there spurting blood like from a horror movie. Looks like NS2 is off to a great start...rolls eyes

Patrick's eulogy for him: "He would want us to get back to work." How pathetic was that? Whether or not you like him, you can't witness a colleague's death at the office without getting a little rattled. Nobody seemed to blink an eye.:[

I was watching that scene with the blood and thought the same thing........did anyone try and revive that guy? They sure recovered quickly. Just like Robin...gets, hit by a runaway car, gets treatment, goes home for 1 day and then back to work all in one hour??? I don't think this show is gonna hold my attention. It moves WAY too fast and there are holes everywhere. jmho.

I'm glad Ford is gone...no reason for him even to be on the screen in the first place imo....but I do think the show is moving too fast...just looks like they want to cover to much in a short time.

I kept thinking I missed a scene because it went from Ford bleeding to the next day Patrick is Chief of Staff. It's so unlike a soap opera to move that fast. Same with Jagger's arrival. We never saw it.
I guess they only have limited episodes to tell the NS story so they are going to gloss over scenes they don't feel are important. I guess fans may disagree on what's important. I think a few moments for Dr. Ford would have been better.
On the other hand, people often complain that soaps go too slowly so maybe this is something different that we could learn to enjoy. I'm going to have an open mind about the pace. Where it counted, i.e, with major characters like Robin and Patrick, they had some great, in-depth conversations so I'm not really complaining. I like that her anger at being made to start mat leave didn't involve 50 different conversations like on GH.

It happened so fast I couldn't even tell what happened to him. He came into the ER asking what was going on, Patrick yelled, "No, don't!" They all ran towards him. Commercial. The next thing I know he's dead. So what happened?

Well they did have a shootout last year where people were bandage for one day and then it was never mentioned again.

Well, I guess we need to remember that one of the features of NS2 (not sure if NS also) is that it wraps up in that hour. Meaning, that each episode could be a stand alone issue and all major issues have reached somewhat of a conclusion by the end of the show... sort of like some primetime series. If they are planning to introduce and wrap up those same issues in one show, things are going to have to fly pretty quickly.

The character of Dr. Ford supposedly was this great man of medicine. You'd think he would know enough not to pull the shard of glass out of his neck. That's taught in basic medicine 101.
Dr. Ford was no Alan Quartermaine or Steve Hardy. Both of these men wer ace medicos.
I'm glad he's gone, I only wish the scene had taken place on GH instead of Night Shift.

Apparently a piece of glass hit Dr. Ford right in the carotid artery, and he didn't even realize he had been hit until Patrick or somebody mentioned it. Then he pulled it out himself, which probably caused more damage, possibly severing the artery entirely. And since that's the way blood/oxygen gets to the brain, you're pretty much toast if it gets severed, which is why Patrick was telling him not to pull it out. Obviously Dr. Ford should have known this intellectually, but at the time he was just thinking "What's this thing doing in my neck?"
As far as the idea of Patrick being named "acting" chief of staff literally overnight, it seems a little silly, given that there has to be some older doctors still alive somewhere in GH who would be a better fit for the administrative role. But then Dr. Ford himself was a visiting doctor who suddenly became "acting chief of staff" when Alan Quartermaine died. So in that respect it's "full circle", I guess?

I'm sorry to see Dr. Ford go I personally liked his character. There was so much story to tell he never was given a chance. He had his soft side like last year when Lainey's father was in the hospital, he made her understand how her father was feeling being dependent on her and he wanted his dignity. Also when Epiphany had her heart attack he went to talk to her about his wife who died because she didn't take the time to take of herself and her cancer spead until it was too late. They could of had a love triangle between Dr. Ford/Epiphany/Tussoinant. But as usual the writers didn't see that far in advance. Dr. Ford didn't have to be killed off he could of been incompassitated for a while with Patrick as acting cheif of staff until he was better or decieded to retire.

I don't like the way they are advancing the story lines. I feel like we are missing some good stories. Missing out on Robin seeing Jagger the first time was a big disappointment, and whether I liked Dr. Ford or not that jump from one day to the next was not good.

Actually, and I hate to say it, i actually cheered out loud when Patrick said that he had died. Sorry, but I HATED that character's guts. The way he treated Monica after Alan died made that piece of glass in his carotid feel like poetic justice for me. Plus, he would turn away terminally ill people (remember the pregnant lady who was like dying on the floor but had no insurance so her husband came and shot the place up?) if they didn't have insurance which was ridiculous and I'm pretty sure illegal.
I have nothing against the actor that played him, he actually did a really good job of getting me to despise Dr. Ford, but I did a happy dance over his character being gone. Now if only someone with the initials L.S. had been standing next to him....
But please don't even get me started on Patrick's teenage ass as the new Chief of Staff., Did they pick a name out of a hat???

The way they killed Dr. Ford off (and please don't think I'm complaining cause I was pleased as punch to see him go) there would have been no way to have a "death scene." With him pulling that shard of glass out of his carotid artery would have been dead in about five minutes or less. It takes no time at all to bleed to death from that injury.
I for one thoroughly enjoy NS. I think if we the fans just appreciate it as a completely different show with some familiar characters and stories, we would enjoy it a lot more. There is just no way for them to be as detailed with some things because they only have 16 hours for the whole season.

I think the story moves too fast Ford's death, Robins' recovery I too kept thinking I had missed some scenes but after a second viewing relaized they just jumped ahead day or two?and I hate the way Leo's whol epersonality has changed. the only good thing billy Dee,Antonio and no mob so far! why bring in a bunch of newbies when they are already not using Lainey, kelly,Leyla on GH and then there's also Regina and Andy . nadine does have the Nikolas/clinic storyline maybe they could have tied the clinic story into NightShift.
this will seem silly and unimportant but why did jagger have to borrow clothes from Patrick? Also where was litte Stone and who was keeping him while Jagger was staying at Robin & patricks apmt.?
